Of the cuff, I would suspect bad gas. It sounds as if the truck has been seldom driven, and may need a gas additive to "revive" the stale gas.
Some people would put about 10 gallons of "premium" gas in it to see if that would help.

most of the newer make the cap has to be on and turned till it clicks3 or 4 times .

Have you checked if vacuum builds up in the gas tank, due to a plugged filler cap???

Gas cap very hard to get off


If the cap is hard to remove I suspect that there is too great a vacuum in the tank. run a fault code check and look for canister solenoid/ purge valve fault.

I can't get gas to go in my bmw 323i convertible, help? The gas cap is very hard to get off now and the pump won't suction on when I try to put gas in.

  1. Install the main bearing cap bolts and the cross-mounted main bearing cap bolts.
  1. Tighten all of the main bearing cap bolts in two stages.

    Stage 1: Tighten the vertical fasteners 1 through 10 to 37-43 Nm (27-32 lb/ft). Rotate fasteners 1 through 10, 85-95 degrees.

    Stage 2: Tighten the cross-mounted fasteners 11 through 20 to 27-33 Nm (20-24 lb/ft). Rotate fasteners 11 through 20, 85-95 degrees.

Tighten the connecting rod bolts in two stages, using the sequence shown.

Stage 1: 40-45 Nm (30-33 lb/ft)

Stage 2: Rotate 90-120 degrees

Gas is spilling from under the gas cap 2001 Chevy 3500


CHECK YOUR FUEL LINES AND MAKE SURE THERE ARE TIGHT AND DONT HAVE ANY HOLES IN THEM BECAUSE WHEN THIS OCCURED DID YOU HAVE TO KEEP PUMPIN THE GAS? IF SO YOU MIGHT HAVE TO DROP YOUR GAS TANK AGAIN AND MAKE SURE EVERTHING IS CONNECTED PROPERLY
