Question about 2001 Saturn L-Series

1 Answer

Intermittent blower motor failure

The vehicle is a 2001 Saturn L200 Sedan. The blower motor works and then will cut out and then come back on a minute or 2 later and then cut out again and so on. I've replaced the resistor and it worked steady for a little while but then started the same thing over again. Has anyone ever run into this problem or know anything that could cause this?

A broken/burned motor winding will do exactly this. If you measure it when cold it will look good. The broken/burned winding will only open from heat expansion.

Blower Motor on 2000 Saturn SL

The blower motor is connected to a termic switch, when the motor is fine and fuse is ok, is the switch that must be replaced.

Ensure the fuse is ok first.

How to replace a blower resistor motor on a 2001 Saturn L200

Check the black power wire from the main wiring harness to the harness for the blower control, that's what I found wrong with mine after replacing the resistor and blower motor. I just jumped it with a 20 amp inline .

Some of these had an issue with the wires going into the back of the blower switch on the dash. Remove the A/c control switch and check for melting or loose wires in the blower control switch.

Have a 2001 L200 sedan everything will be working fine then the gas guagewater guage,a/c and interior lights quit working,i can take the positive cable off for a minute and hook it back up and everything...

In the engine compartment, to the rear of the engine, there is a little braided strap that goes from an engine bolt too the firewall. Since the body is best ground to the engine because of it's connection to the battery this little grd strap is important if the body mounting has a poor ground.Check for the securement of this strap. Now when you say A/C quits that would be the blower fans? The other possibility would be a primary power supply, which would only be the battery. If that connection is lost that everything goes haywire or quits working altogether.Do me a favor and let me know the findings, please. If need be we will go further on the issue. Good Luck, -Ned-. 2001 Saturn L200 blower motor does not work in highest switch position. Move switch down to next lowest position and it works normally. This is in AC mode.

Blower motor resistor. Located next to/ near the blower motor itself. These are common failures for no high speed blower operation.

Have you done any component testing? U1000 is a data issue, cant read pulses per minute. This is usually due to a defective crank sensor but you should do component testing first so you don't replace parts on random. Other reasons for this failure can be faulty ignition switch cam positioning sensor, Blown fuse, bad ground, or ECM.
