ACCELERATION PROBLEMS/SWOOSHING NOISE OUT OF EXHAUST.

1993 HONDA ACCORD WAGON. WHEN PLACED IN D4 OR D3 ON THE CONSOLE THERE IS VERY LITTLE POWER ON ACCELERATION. L1 OR L2 GOOD ACCELERATION. CHANGED PLUGS/DISTRIBUTOR/ROTOR. OLD STUFF LOOKED GREAT BUT STILL REPLACED. WIRES LOOK GOOD. TRANSMISSION RED AND NO BURNT SCENT. WHEN DRIVING IN D4 IT WILL GET UP TO SPEED. DROVE 65 NO VIBRATION. WHEN I MOVE THROUGH THE GEARS THERE IS NO GRINDING OR JUMPING/JERKING. WHEN I ACCELERATE YOU HEAR A SWISHING SOUND COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST. NO LEAKS OR HOLES IN SYSTEM. ALSO NO OIL ON ANY OF THE CHANGE SPARK PLUGS.

FIXED IT. IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE CARPET. ALL I DID WAS DISCONNECT THE BLACK BATTERY CABLE AND WALA. DONE.

Go for a diagnostic scan. This will tell you whatever is wrong with your transmission.

I have a 1993 Honda Accord Lx I just got with no manual . Which gear is for driving?

D4 is where you want to spend most of your time as this is the overdrive gear. About the only time you will need to run in D3 is if you are climbing steep grades or, if equipped with a tow kit, pulling a load.

I just picked up a 87 honda accord and just want to know what gear i drive it in it has l2 d3 and d4 can you help got me confused

D4 - this gear means that all four automatic gears will be able to work (1,2,3,4)
D3 - Three gears will be able to work (1,2,3)
D2 - Two gears (1,2) - L2 means the same thing
D1 - One (low) gear (1)

For your car, drive it in d4. this means that all forward gears will work, including overdrive (4th gear). It will be fine to leave your car in this gear.
