Question about 2001 Pontiac Sunfire

1 Answer

2000 Sunfire 2.4 GT bucks when maintaining speed

The car will run fine sometime, then it will buck and a speed you are trying to maintain, 35, 45, 55 mph. If you give it gas no problem it take right off. But sometimes maintaing a speed it will buck un til you let off or increase the pedal. I changed the fuel filter and this helped for a good while but now its back again. Any answers or suggestions. Also replace air filter, plugs and distributor.

Sounds like the EGR valve is giving you some trouble. If it is happening during steady cruises, That is where I would start. Do you have a check engine light on?

Could be a bad computer not supplying right fuel injector pulses. This happened to my 1990 cadillac deville at about 35 mph, it would buck and miss.
Also, I would flush the coolant system and install new coolant.

1995 toyota pickup, surging at around 2000 rpms

Is the check engine light on?

A major cause of surging is either air leaks between the air flow meter and the engine intake manifold, or a bad or mis-adjusted throttle position sensor.
