Im trying to replace the lower radiator hose and i was wonder if when it goes to the thermostat housing if it goes to the top or bottom opening the car is a 2000 ford taurus with a 24 valve dohc 3.0 L...

The lower radiator hose is usually connected to the water pump. It's purpose is to draw coolant from the bottom of the radiator and circulate it through the engine and heater. a word of caution, even if you drain the radiator when you loosen the hose there will be a sizeable amount of coolant flowing from that point. Keep a pan handy!!!

Engine is over heating unless you turn on defroster, then the fans come on , however interior temp switch , appears not to be working, because it continues to blow cold air into the vehicle,

May just be low coolant level. Remove rad cap, or if none, coolant return bottle cap, and start engine and run heater while doing this. Now pay attention to coolant level and add as needed to top up the system. Let it run with cap off until rad fan comes on and off, 2 or 3 times and keep adding coolant if level goes down. Keep an eye on temperature gauge while doing this. It almost sounds like your coolant got low, or is low, and your heater has an airlock. Once coolant circulates back through heater and level is correct, see what happens.

Ford Taurus Part # WT724

sounds like the gauge and sensor r workin properly....but you do have to address that coolant leak...that causes your temp to fluctuate cuz you cooling capacity is being reduced

I have a ford 3liter DOHC (Tuarus) the engine code for bad coil on E comes on when it is very humid and rainy. engine runs rough. Is this cyl #5? Are 4,5,6 cyl in the back or front?

# 5 is in the middle of the front. It is the coil pack for sure. It happened to my car and only really missed when it was raining.
