Question about 2005 Scion xB
I recently just bought a 2005 Scion xB from a used car dealership. It has roughly 110,000 miles on it, and is in excellent condition. I just took it in for an oil change and the only 'problem' they encountered was that the transmission fluid needs to be changed in about 3 months or so they said. They are my very reliable mechanics that my whole family uses and they couldn't seem to figure out what was happening to make the lights come on. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Also, I am in hopes of driving it to Colorado in 3 days from Tulsa, OK, and would like to know whether or not I should take it or another car!
My vcs and check engine light came on when the master cylinder was low on fluid

SOURCE: Warning lights won't go off.
You need to have a code scanner hooked to the car to find out why the lights are on, if there is an auto zone or advanced auto near you, go there and ask them if they can hook one up, or call around to see who can do it.

I have a 05 Scion XB W/215000 mi My vsc ck eng light go on all the time. The dealer told me it was a little dirt speck of dirt in the timing gear and it would cost almost a thousand dollars to fix it. So I just disconnect the neg battery cable for 2 minutes and reconnect. The light stays out for about 4-6 months. when it comes on again I just repeat the steps.

On these cars and Toyotas also, if the engine computer sees an emissions problem, it will illuminate all of these lights. As long as the check engine light isn't flashing and it's not running funny, you should be ok to finish your trip. Keep in mind the traction control may not work if you were to get into a situation where it could be helpful. Recommend checking the gas cap to be sure it is tight, it should click 3 times minimum.
