My 2000 Saturn SL 1.9L SOHC back up lights wont go on, the bulbs are fine and so is the fuse. what else could be bad besides the back up lamp switch? if that is the only other problem, how can i change it/where is it located?
SOURCE: my brake light wont come on
is this a 4 door sedan? If so, the brake light wire runs along the drivers side of vehicle up the rear side of back seat. Look at where the wire goes through the cut out in sheet metal. I had the same issue, brake light out, replaced fuse and drove, bralk lights out again. Where the wire goes over the sharp edge of metal, it can wear through and short out. You have to run your fingers along the wire to possibably find the cut, it may be small so look closely. tape it up if you find a break. Good luck

Normally I would advise exactly how to do a job, but this is one of those tasks that you NEED to buy a haynes manual so you have the correct tightening/torquing sequence, the correct method to set the timing, etc. This can be an involved process, and without the proper illustrations and information, would be homocide to your vehicle's engine to undertake. While you're in there, you'll want to change out the timing chain as well though, FYI.

You should be able to inspect the tank to see if there is any damage around the place where the rubber seal on the cap fits. If there is, it will need to be replaced.
