SOURCE: My 2005 Dodge Caravan door

If you have the body control module scanned I'm sure you'll find there is a door lock code. When the computer detects a fault it disables the system. When you pull the fuse the code clears and it works until it detects the fault again. I believe there may be a new bcm flash that will correct your problem. It requires dealer level scan tools to perform. It could also be a bad lock solenoid, a bad door position sensor, open or shorted wire or bad bcm.

  • Later model Dodge Caravans are subject to parasitic drain. This is due to newer electronic parts that require a constant, albeit tiny, trickle of current in order to maintain their memory when the ignition switch is turned off. If a device is drawing too much power, it can run the battery down. A diagnostic test at a professional auto shop can usually isolate the problem component within an hour or two.
  • Brake Light Switch
  • The Dodge Caravan, like many other vehicles, utilizes a brake light switch that illuminates the brake lights when the brake pedal is applied and shuts the lights off when the pedal is released. This switch, which is located under the dash above the brake pedal, can wear out over time and arbitrarily cause the brake lights to turn on. If the operator is unaware of the problem, he can experience a dead battery and never know why. The switch typically costs less than $20; anyone who can pump their own gas should be able to replace it in less than 15 minutes. .
  • Check the C relay or could be a problem with the BCM at the bottom left side fuse location. (Driver Side, These have been issues in the past as well.
When will Dodge engineers smarten up and put separate fuses on each thing that draws through the IOD fuse? As time has passed the size of the IOD fuse has increased to the point where for some vehicles it must handle 90 amps. Everything that needs power (even standby power) when the ignition is off goes through it. This includes every open and close door module, electric seats, sliding door openers, window open and close motors (so you can remotely open the windows to cool off the car before you get in), gps equipment, clock, remote key receiver, remote engine start module and heater fan on warm engine detect, security system and alert (which includes lights and horns), and much more. Right now the only way to fix such problems is to cut all wires coming off the IOD in inserting a shunt with a place for a fuse. After turning off the car remove the fuse bypass on the shunt and watch. Eventually, a fuse will blow. That tells you the culprit causing the battery drain. In some cases it has been shown to be a open door module that is shorting internally. At other times it can be wiring. Regardless, it all comes to lousy engineers at Dodge. The problem has existed in every Dodge and many Chryslers since the early 90's and will continue to be more of a problem as vehicle electronics increase.

2000 dodge neon when starting car the word fuse comes on and flashes on dash

FUSE in the odometer window means the IOD (Ignition-Off Draw) fuse in the Power Distribution Center under the hood is blown, removed, or has a failure in the wiring.

This fuse is removed during long-term storage on the dealer lot before the car is originally sold to keep the battery from being drained by dome lights left on, radio memory, etc. It has a yellow holder around it for quick identification. EVERY Neon built has one of these fuses; and every Chrysler product has one dating back to probably the original LH cars in '93.

Driver side sliding door not working need diagram for IOD fuse

That fuse has nothing to do with the door. IOD stands for Ignition Off Draw-it's the circuit responsible for small amounts of battery power to keep computer memory, radio presets, the clock, and security system alive when key is in off or removed.
I don't know which fuse for the door, but not the IOD fuse.

    Says fuse on odometer

Check the IOD fuse in the under hood fuse block. If its o.k. then there is an issue with the IOD (ignition off draw) circuit. I should be able to get you some wiring info if you need it.

My '05 Dodge Caravan is having power door lock problems. Presently they do not function. Any thoughts?

Under the hood on the drivers side is a fuse panel. Remove the top and locate the IOD fuse. Remove the fuse and look to make sure it's not blown. If it's ok simply replace it and locks should return to normal.
If the fuse is blown you will need another 10 amp mini fuse to replace it.

Won't start, clicks and says fuse

When the dash display read 'fuse' it indicates that the Ignitition Off Draw fuse is not installed or is blown. The fuse is used when the car is in storage (or sitting on the car lot) so that you can disconnect all loads that would cause the battery to go dead over time. The odomoter displays fuse to remind the dealer to install it before delivering the car to the customer.

It is located in the fuse panel under the hood. It's easy to miss because it's in a small black plastic clip that you can pull up to disconnect the fuse, without removing it completely.

It should be labeled on the lid of the fuse box as IOD. It powers up the interior lights, along with the radio and a few other things. It most commonly get's blown during installation of aftermarket radios, etc.
