I would like to replace the gear shift knob on my 1991 lexus ls400. How does it come off

    Well you need to take the center console out to replace shift knob If you want specifics and schematic go to Collisionrepairadvice.com its worth it

    All other gears work but my low gear does not when taking off from a complete stop l have to put gear shift in low gear when taking off.

Slide the lower part of shifter handle down and you will find two screws, but there is 2 wires coming in from center console for overdrive button.you have to remove the center console cover and remove the 2 wires from connector and then pull up threw handle.when you go back together you will have to guide them back threw the handle.

I had the same problem with my 1992 LS400. My Lexus mechanic fixed it by replacing the MAF(Mass Air Flow).

This used to drive me crazy when the weather was hot.

Not too bad. Not much room, just enough to drop the starter. It is probably easier to go up through exhaust if you can get your exhaust shield off the manifold .

Telescopic Steering wheel won't move down or up


Yes it would be perfectly ok to disegauge the auto switch to keep it from moving again. It needs a tilt motor replaced . not a easy job.
