THANKS KEITH - IS THE MOONROOF MOTOR A BIG DEAL TO CHANGE? I HIT THE OPEN BUTTON BY ACCIDENT WHEN IT WAS FROZEN SHUT AND I KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE TRACK. I GOT IT BACK IN THE TRACK BUT I THINK I BROKE THE PLASTIC GEARS IN THE MOTOR BECAUSE NOW WHEN I PUSH THE BUTTON I CAN HEAR THE MOTOR GRINDING BUT NO MOVEMENT IN THE MOONROOF.

FIRST THING TAKE ALL THE INTER. TRIM THAT IS TOUCHING THE HEADLINER.. THEN IN THE DOME LIGHT, TAKE THE PLASTIC COVER OFF, THERE WILL BE TWO METAL RODS STICKING DOWN (VERY SMALL) THERE IS A LITTLE METAL CLIP ON THE RODS, TAKE A PAIR OF NEEDLE NOSE AND PULL THE CLIP OFF THE RODS.. WHEN ALL THE TRIM, BOLTS, AND CLIPS ARE OFF, PULL THE HEADLINER TO THE BACK OF THE TRUCK, AND THE CLIPS IN THE VISOR AREA WILL BECOME FREE.. IF ANY QUESTION CONTACT ME AT keith.glass765@yahoo.com GOOD LUCK KEITH..

Moonroof shade got off track and rolled up fast what do i do?

Go to a glass or windshield repair shop. You really do not want problems with the moonroof leaking or staining the headliner. Since something is crumpled you will likely need another shade.

Sometimes there are different suppliers of parts for production and the tracks can be different. They also have the right glue and tools to repair your moonroof.

Replacement moonroof

Glass shop or a Salvage yard. Check with your insurance for whether it's covered without a Deductible. You will need to clean the broken glass or cover the interior before attempting to remove it. The biggest challenge will be the Headliner and then access to the moonroof fixtures.

2005 Jaguar S-Type sunroof headliner needs repair

In order to repair the headliner cover for the sunroof/moonroof panel, you must remove the panel to recover it or have someone recover it. The jag expert Richard at justanswer gave detailed instructions with manual pages on how to do this without removing the entire headliner:

First the glass will need to be removed then that rear trough needs to be removed then the sliding panel can be removed. Click on the links.

Glass
Trough
Panel

It's only 6 screws and the panel will slide out (with a little flexing) through the sunroof opening. This will prevent removing the entire headliner.

My 2004 tiburon moonroof is stuck doesn't open or close i can hear the motor going but the moonroof just doesn't move at all, first it was closing all the way down but was making a funny noise as...

In order to find out what's causing the problem, the headliner must be dropped (removed) to access the sunroof motor so it can be inspected and removed to inspect the slide cables up inside the sunroof/moonroof assy. Until that's done, there's not much more I can do to help except speculate.

Sunroof stuck open, think the switch maybe bad

I have same problem. Below are a couple of suggestions from LincolnOnLine.com on how to close the sunroof manually. The first relates to a '93 and I'm not sure about the second. Use this info at your own risk. If you get a better answer, PLEASE POST IT HERE FOR ME. Thanks. Mort

Here is the text from my 93 Manual. There is an access panel in the rear centre of the headliner if it is the same as my 93.

Manual Operation

To close the sliding panel manually, remove the roof access hole trim panel located at the rear of the moon roof assembly. Remove the motor and bracket assembly as outlined to expose the splined shaft of the moon roof drive gear box. Using a typical corporate door window regulator crank handle properly set on the splined shaft, crank the moon roof panel closed.

Motor

CAUTION:
It is recommended that the battery ground cable be disconnected when removing or installing the moon roof motor assembly.

Removal and Installation

1. Operate glass panel until rear of glass panel is flush with sheet metal surface.

2. Remove motor access cover.

3. Remove two motor retaining screws.

4. Lower motor away from splined motor gear and disconnect electrical connector.

5. To install, reverse Removal procedure and synchronize motor as outlined under Adjustments.

My moonroof is leaking. water sips through the rubber seal and it is rusty around the channel inside. how do i remove the monroof?

All moonroofs leak. The key is, does the drain work? Find the drain hole(s) and force air or water through it/them or gently push a wire down the tube. I say gently because you don't want the hose to come unplugged from the drain spigot. If that happens you will need to pull down the headliner to reattach it. The drain hose will go across the roof, down one of the pilars, and out the bottom of the car. If you can find the exit point you can work from there as well.

Shade for 93 honda wont close. window works fine. but shade is stuck

I don't know if this will work, but you can try it. If you use the manual method for closing the moonroof, or opening it, it MIGHT take the shade along with it. The following is the procedure, which you may already know.
The moonroof can be closed manually, if the control switch will not close it.
1. Remove the round plug near the rear center of the headliner.
2. Insert the moonroof wrench (from the tool kit, should be in the trunk) into the socket.
3.Turn the wrench until the moonroof seats in the closed position.
4. Replace the plug.
As I say, this MIGHT work. Hope it helps.

Linc Navigator Moonroof Stuck Open

I had the same problem with mine. 2003 Navigator, and the moonroof would open but wouldn't close. When hitting the switch to "open" you'd hear a click, but no sound when trying to close it. So I popped that console down off the ceiling, pulled out the harness for that switch, and figured out which wires to jump to close it.

I have 02 expedition sunroof opened and now will not close . i hit switch and can hear clicking sound but nothing happens. is that the solenoid or the motor? and if so is there anyway to close it?

you either have motor or track damaged, you can manually close it with an ALLEN wrench as outlined in your owners manual, unless the track is jambed.....that is a major job to replace the track/motor assembly, because the entire headliner has to be removed, plus ALL the trim.....GL.....
