Defrorstores stay on ,try to change to floor, ac, heat vent ,deforstores still on 1995 thunderbird lx blower motor works great.


Some cars use vacuum from the engine to open and close the doors that direct the air to different positions. It is possible that the vacuum line to the controls is cracked or disconnected.

2002 s10 blows air out vents no matter what position its in


I have had same problem, the vacuum lines by the square vacuum canister in the driver fender, next to the brake booster all appear to be intact, the vacuum lines behind the glove box are securely fastened at the junction, and the engine bays vacuum lines are all secure, still have yet to diagnose, I have heard however that if yours is 4wd and have had problems with the actuator it is possible that transmission fluid has been sucked into the a/c vacuum lines and creating a blockage for vacuum. Since these vacuum lines are supplied by the same stem, I find that this will be the next step in my progress, manually checking for vacuum at the cabin.

2000 Town Car Cartier, A/C will not come on. You can change to manual/ac/Defrost/Vent/Manual Fan/Change Temp nothing. Fan will not blow. Play with it for several minutes/turn car off and on...play with...


It sounds like vacuum is not getting to the vent, heat and A/C controls. Find the vacuum can. It may be under the hood on one of the inner fenders. The "one-way" check valve is usually located in the line and close to the can, make sure it works properly. The valve could be the very thing that's causing the problem. Trace the lines back to the vacuum block at the intake manifold or fire-wall, and also back to where the line goes thru the fire-wall. Check the can for leaks or obvious holes. They used to be just a plain metal can, but it could be a plastic ball. Check the lines as you go, for breaks and rub-thru's. Move the controls thru all settings and listen for vent door movement. Worst case is a bad vacuum motor or air flow position selector switch, and/or a faulty Blend Door Actuator. If you have been driving around with the Temperature knob or control set at the same spot for months, move it from fully cold to fully hot several times and wait for the air temperature to change each time. This will help reset the blend door and vacuum control system. Hope this helps... Let me know what you find.

Could also be the control panel, the relay(s), or the blower motor.

Very weak output from fan on vent, heat, or AC setting. Is this controlled by a series of cables inside the dash? Possibly a broken line or disconnect inside the dashboard panel?


No cables, just vacuum motors and electronic controls.

Fan switch only works on one setting for ac blows weak will not change to under dash upper air( windshield or any other position

Also, it sounds like the blower resistor pack is bad. Its in the main duct either just before or just after the blower.

The air flow is controlled by vacum. I would start by inspecting all the hard plastic vacum lines under the hood. If you find none broken or loose , then inspect the control panel. by "default" the air is derected to the defrost position.

97 ford mustang.the fan won't change positions


First thing I would check is all of your vacuum lines. I had same problem and turned out there was a split in one of my vacuum lines. Once I repaired it, it worked perfectly again.

I have a 99 ford f-150 xl has a vacum leak and when i drive at normal speed my fan goes to defrost only when i slow down my heater goesto normal heating position what could the probelm be


Sounds like the HVAC system has a cracked hose being the control panel, or to the panel select.

It is going to take pulling the control panel out, and checking each vacuum line for cracks. Easy way is to plug one end, and test with a vac tester like a MightyVac.

You might get lucky and find the crack right behind the HVAC control panel.

This is if you don't already know where the vacuum leak is at ( large vacuum error should set the CEL )

The rotor may be warped or the right wheel may not be braking at all. Check these things. Good Luck.
