I assune your tyre is inflated properly. i would say you have worn out brake shoes or pads. also if they have been worn for ages you will have warped the brake disc. you will need to replace both sides to be safe

Sure sounds like you need new brake pads. On the brake pad is a small metal tab that contacts the rotor and squeals when the pads need to be changed. Hope this helps. Please keep me posted. Good luck

SOURCE: 2000 dodge caravan, when brakes are applied,

Look to make sure your brake caliper bolts are secure as the can back out and contact the wheel itself. You can feel around the whell for and gouges or scraping to confirm this. It is a stretch but there may be some foriegn object stuck under there as well.

SOURCE: Brakes are making loud grinding noise when slowing down to stop or on an incline

Ok, it could be a few things, 1. bad break caliper. 2. if you have ceramic breaks, it could be a cracked brake pad, and if they are not ceramic they can still be cracked. 3. if you drive a lot then it could be that you need new breaks again.. 4. also have your back breaks checked along with the front ones..

What would cause my Aztek to make loud grinding, groaning and now sounds like something is broken in the rear while driving?

My hunch would be rear wheel bearings. Lift and spin each wheel listening for noise is all I can suggest at this point.

Why noise in car when pressing on gas pedal grinding

It's the car pulling to that side? Sticking brake pad possible. When did you have brakes done last off at all? Front brakes go out twice as fast as rear brakes. If you can Charlie jack up that side put car in park, set emergency brake and chock rear tires. Pull off that tire and see if rotor is grooved or scored badly. It may have been sticking and wore down faster. Also check CV BOOT. If torn u joints get dirty and will grind. Hope this was some help.

Take the tires off and inspect the brakes. Sounds like they are badly worn.

you likely wore out your brakes and now overheated them and seized them. If you hear grinding in brakes, GET THEM REPLACED...not only can you damage your car, you could kill someone if you completely lose you brakes...

Rear tire noise

How many miles on your 328? My son's car was making a grinding noise and our independent mechanic told me it was the rear differential. I assumed he was correct and bought a replacement. However, before I installed it, I noticed the outer 3/4" of his passenger side rear rotor was discolored and no longer shiny. His brake caliper was grinding the rotor! It was because the hub bearing was so badly worn. I replaced the bearing and all is well.

Drum brakes causing intermittent grinding noise

Sounds like one of the springs that hold the rear brakes in place broke. Jack her up, pop off the tire, remove the drum and take a look. If you need to see what a good one looks like, look on the other side.

This is not a very common problem, but I saw it last year on a 69 chevelle.

Good Luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

NEVER swap rear tires... the radial tires are not made/designed to be driven one way and then driven the other... they WILL delaminate and come apart.. when you rotate tires, you rotate front and rear on the same side....(old bias-ply tires were rotated around a vehicle)
... if you did not have both sides of the rear brakes fitted with new pads and ..at least had the rotors turned.. do that. look closely at the inside of your wheels and make sure there has been no contact.... once you have made sure both sides are good.. reply back to me on here.. thanks... please mark as helpful.. thanks
