The fan on the insignia is electrical it is designed to stay on for a short while once the engine is turned off in order to cool the engine and is on a timer relay system controlled by the cars ECU.
Check the fan about 15 mins after you stop it should have gone off by that time if it hasnt it needs to go to an auto electrician to be checked out. Insignias as all modern cars are extremley complex so its best to get it checked by a garage rather than try to fix it yourself.

Hi,must of the time when fans stop working is because a fuse or a fan relay is burned ,it is also posible that the fan motor also burn out, there is a temperature switch at the cilinder head that can go bad and the fan will not go on. this should do it .....

Im having probs Vauxhall astra 1.6 11 plate cooling fan on all the time

the fan power is controlled at the last point by a relay
that relay gets the signal from the ECM which relies on the coolant temperature sensor to report on coolant temperature and the need to cool it down
If there is a problem in that relay ( points burnt together then the fan will run continuously as the power is direct from the battery
first fix is too replace that relay with a known good one and if it still runs then you will have to trace back each component and fuse until you find the faulty unit
It could possibly be a faulty coolant SENSOR ( don't confuse with a coolant sender which works the gauge)

Vauxhall insignia cooling fan running constantly but not overheating

If the Ac is on then yes the fan will run ,but if a uk reg car no doubt it has no AC so check if the AC is on first if its not and the fan is still running then you have a temperature sensor fault ,what one and where ??

Do you know the colour of the indicator wire on a 59 plate vauxhall insignia please

Because of the light cluster, I guess it aint obvious. Pop out the side repeater holder on the wing and check the colours of the 2 wires there. Guessing one will be black (earth) and the other may be the colour you are after.
