Just replace the egr or try removing the egr and spraying it with carb cleaner

The EGR is a electric motor controled device. Usually if it is stuck it is caused by a faulty motor or the sticking condition causes the motor to go bad but either way you need to replce it and clean out the ports.

P1406 position circuit pintle

Yes an EGR will cause a vehicle to not start. That code means EGR is not working properly and That the pintle is stuck in the open or closed position. The EGR burns the unburned fuel that wasnt burned the first time by passing it through the engine again instead of raw fuel out the tailpipe.

Suburban error code reads 402

This means the EGR flow is excessive. The valve may be stuck open or another defect is triggering the EGR to open too much.

Error code p1406

P1406 code indicates a problem with the EGR valve's pintle position. The EGR Valve's pintle could just be stuck in which case the problem could be fixed by cleaning the EGR valve.

My 1997 gmc sonoma truck,it has a V6,4.3 liter V-Tec failed the MIL/Check Engine Light Test due to a Warning Lamp Failure. Due to a OBD Fault Code:P1406 manufacturer specific code

This code indicates a problem with the EGR valve's pintle position. The EGR Valve's pintle could just be stuck in which case the problem could be fixed by cleaning the EGR valve.

If the EGR valve is electronically controlled or cleaning the valve does not fix the problem, you will most likely have to replace the EGR Valve. i hope this helps

My car is showing the code p1406 and p0108 and it started moving very slow and hesitate to move

    Welcome to Fixya.

P1406 code means there is a problem with the EGR valve's pintle position. The EGR Valve's pintle could just be stuck in which case the problem could be fixed by cleaning the EGR valve.
If the EGR valve is electronically controlled or cleaning the valve does not fix the problem, you will most likely have to replace the EGR Valve.

P0108 code means there is a problem with the MAP sensor. You should replace it. This sesnsor is usually located between the air filter and the throttle body. It senses how much air is going into the throttle body so the car knows how much fuel to inject.

    Thank you for using Fixya!

What will be wrong if I got code p0406 and p 404

both codes po406 and po404 refer to a fault in the EGR system
Po404 > Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit Range/Performance not within proper range.
Po406> Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit High (meaning the circuit is open or disconnected)
Without actualy checking the voltages (wiring)
    Replace the EGR valve
    clear codes
    test drive

Engine light came on and used my scanner and it came up with the code number of PO404.

po404 is telling the computer that the egr pintle is openwhen it shouldnt be, this sounds like a bad egr valve or carbon is holding it open, remove the valve and check for carbon, this is common on the 4.3 engine, if its carbon then run and rev engine with valve off, then reinstall valve and replace the gasket with an aftermarket gasket that was made for this problem, the new gasket has a screen to stop carbon from going into valve, here a picture of it.hope this is helpful.ab6f9e9.jpg974a1ec.jpg

Check engine light on, 1997 cadillac Deville.PCM codes

    PO135 is oxygen sensor Bank1 sensor1. PO404 is EGR.
personally, I'd pull EGR off, clean pintle good with throttle body cleaner or carb cleaner, re-install, erase codes & try it for a while & see if it code(s) come back.
