Question about Cars & Trucks
I've tried everything even adding a shift cable and it's still not shifting out of first gear and i've put the oil it requried for me to put so what do you think i should i do?
Have a pressure test done on the transmission if auto. Look for metal on the drain plug if manual as it may be a cluster shaft bearing failing and allowing misalignment in the gears .

if the shifter is loose and sloppy feeling then the shift cable bracket has come loose under the dash at the steering wheel. remove the lower panel under the steering wheel so you can see under the dash then get flash light and look while jiggling the shifter. you should be able to see the cable and bracket. if the bracket is loose then tighten the bolts. note this bracket is at the steering colum.

SOURCE: Transmission hesitates shifting into second and perhaps third gear when driving slow. When acceleration is positive transmission shifts smoothly. Reference "99 Mercury Transmission" as Subject when
Several things could be causing your problem:
p.s. If you have the fluid changed, make sure it's done from the tranmission pan, not through the filler tube; siphoning through the filler tube can be hazardous to the transmission, especially cars with a lot of miles

Sounds like you have a solonoid out in your transmission. No simple fix for this. You will more than likely have to drop the transmission to replace solonoid.
