I bought car (Kia SII98A sedan) yesterday and while driving home the check engine light came on. I pulled over to a servo checked oil water transmittion etc-all good. Started on my way again then 2 minutes into the trip it came back on. Is this an expensive fix? And do you have any suggestions?
Cheers Liz

Buy your own code-reader, and take it with you when you lookat used cars. A good code reader will tell you if the previous owner justreset the code so the light would be off when you test-drove the vehicle. Sounds like you were taken advantage of by an unscrupulous seller.
Go to Schuck's/Kragen/Chief's/Auto Zone and have the codes read in your vehicle. It is a free service.

This si a new car that I just brought and today the check engine light came on for the first time. I checked the transmission fluid, oil, and everything is fine. What else could be the cause of this?
