Check engine light stays on while driving

I bought car (Kia SII98A sedan) yesterday and while driving home the check engine light came on. I pulled over to a servo checked oil water transmittion etc-all good. Started on my way again then 2 minutes into the trip it came back on. Is this an expensive fix? And do you have any suggestions?

    This si a new car that I just brought and today the check engine light came on for the first time. I checked the transmission fluid, oil, and everything is fine. What else could be the cause of this?

Normal 0 Buy your own code-reader, and take it with you when you lookat used cars. A good code reader will tell you if the previous owner justreset the code so the light would be off when you test-drove the vehicle. Sounds like you were taken advantage of by an unscrupulous seller.

    One of the most common causes of a MIL light coming on is a loose or leaking GAS CAP. Yep, sounds stupid, but it happens all the time. Make sure the cap is tight! Let it click when you tighten it.

The warning light means the engine oil pressure is low, not necessarily that the oil level is low.
The problem could be the pressure switch, or you really could have low oil pressure.
Driving the car with low oil pressure will damage the engine.

Could be a number of things. A common problem is the O2 sensors. Shoot down to your local Autozone or Pep Boys and have them pull eror codes out of the system. That will tell you where to start looking

first you will have to find out what the light is all about it could be something as simple as a bad airfilter or something more complex like an o2 sensor you can go to auto-zone and they will check the light for free and tell you what the problem is once you do this if you like send me a message and ill tell you how to rectify the problem hope this helps you.

Check engine light on
I had the same problem. I went to the kia dealer and they checked the code that caused the light to be on and found I had a leak in the gas cap. They replaced the gas cap and the problem went away. You night need to find out what made the check engine light go on in the first place.
