Question about 1998 Ford Explorer

1 Answer

The O/D light in my 1998 Ford Explorer will start blinking at me some times. It has been doing this for a coupe of days now. It won't do it right when I start driving but will do it a short time after I begin driving. The transmission will then downshift from 2nd to 1st a litle earlier that it usually does when slowing for lights stops signs etc. Anyone know what is wrong? It is at the mechanic right now but would like to have a little knowledge when he calls me back!

Will the mechanic give me the code after they check it out? Or is there a way I could have gotten that myself before I brought it in?

went to autozone and they said they only do codes for check engine light. My mechanice called me back and said he found nothing wrong, the light has not blonked again except for those couple of times.

When the OD light flashes it is telling u that an electronic sensor see's a fault in your transmission's operation, there will be a trouble code stored in the powertrain computer. U will need to have the code before we can even venture a guess at what the problem is.

U could have gone to any Kragen auto or Autozone and they would have run the code test for free. ask the tech what the code is over the phone and post it back on this thread.

My hazard lights work but my blinkers dont in my 1998 ford explorer why is that

Hi there:
Turn signal lights and hazard lights it is the same flasher; the Flasher is located front seating area, driver side, behind dash, mounted on steering column. Do you have power on the white/red wire at the switch?

I would start with testing the multitunction switch that is more than likely faulty.

My ford explorer is 4 wheel drive and has an automatic transmission, the problem im having is, that my overdrive light has started blinking. At times it will blink for a while and then it will quit and the...

It's possible the light bulb has a bad filament or connection. If the transmission doesn't seem to be shifting in and out of overdrive while you're driving then chances are its the bulb or connection.

1998 Ford Explorer blinker problems

you need to go back over all the bulbs. Take each one out and put it back in making sure its working properly. Most likely a bulb is not grounding. I had this on a f-150 that took two days to track down. Good luck
