Cant get reverse gear on my fiat doblo

Can get all 5 forward gears but its very hard to get it in, then it will go straight in after a few attempts

Getting into reverse and 5th gear can be difficult if the "lollipop" flexible link is seperating a quick fix if this is the problem is to drill through in the centre and place a nut and bolt through and tighten up

It's either your servo, or your bands.
Either way, the tranny needs a good cheap shop repair.
I'd just get a warrantied salvage yard tranny if I were you and save a few hundred bucks.

I did find a thread that referred to an "always in a forward gear" A4LD problem, ... Eventhough band adjustment should not have anything to do with the .... in the transmission and then it auto shifts through the gears normally.

When was the transmission last serviced it may be the oil is low or old causeing it not to select gear straight away or it could be the bands inside the box may be worn i would try the service first before jumping into worn bands

Fiat Doblo Cargo Van 1.9 .when in low gear it makes a loud grating noise. Do you think it is the gear box


hard to tell without hearing it.. but it sounds like it could probably be the gearbox

My son has a '91 Pulsar, 5 door hatch. When he changes into reverse, the gear "grates", we beleive the clutch needs to be adjusted, is this correct? (he has no bother with any other gear...


When the engine is idling and the gear box selector is in Neutral all the internals of the gearbox are rotating. Pushing in the Clutch disconnects the drive from the engine to the gearbox but it takes a few seconds for the gears in the box to cease rotating. All the forward gears have synchromesh so there will be no crunching noise ifa forward gear is selected immediately the clutch is pushed in before allowing the gears to stop spinning. On the other hand Reverse has No synchros and therefore selecting reverse before waiting a few seconds for the gears to stop spinning will produce the crunching noise you have described.
So it pays to wait a second or two after pushing in clutch before Reverse is selected to minimise the crunch and if the clutch appears to be working correctly in normal driving ,then no adjustment is necessary.

Hi:
The shift pattern is pretty much the same on all 5 speed cars. The top row is the odd numbers, 1-3-5
the bottom row is 2-4-Reverse. The center position is neutral

Here is the key: The shifter is slightly spring-loaded to the center position. If you hold in the clutch pedal and pull the shifter to neutral, and let go of it, it will automatically be lined up in the position, that if you pushed it forward , it would go to 3rd gear, and if you pulled it back, it would go into 4th gear.
This way, to start driving, you start out in neutral, grab the shifter lightly, and push it first to the left, then forward. This is first gear, where you start out. when you want to shift to second, push in the clutch, and keeping left pressure on the shifter, pull all the way back . Here is the easy part, 2nd to 3rd. When you are ready, push in the clutch, and just push the gear shift forward , till it hits neutral, and is spring loaded to the middle. Then you just push it straight forward to 3rd, then next shift, straight back to 4th.
Last gear, 5th: push forward to the neutral row, then Push to the right till it lines up ,and forward to the 5th gear. Reverse should only be shifted into from a dead stop. Find neutral, push the shifter all the way right, then pull back towards you. Hope this helps.

How do you know what ratio a subaru wrx gearbox is if it doesn't have a trans code sticker on it?

Fiat doblo 1.9 diesel year 2007. engine stop when low fuel tank


There is a possibility that your fuel transfer pump has quit and fuel is getting to your engine by gravity only. Have your tranfer pump flow rate tested. Also renew your primary fuel filter.

These gearboxes were notorious for failing the reverse gear. The reverse gear wears out easily and keeps popping out. You can try shifting the gearbox into 3rd gear before going into reverse. This helps align the syncros in the tranny. Of course make sure you are not moving or if you are have the clutch depressed when shifting. You can also try http://www.international-auto.com/ for parts. They may be able to help you.
