SOURCE: cranks over but won't start.

Sounds like an ASD relay (auto shut down). Or it could be a burnt computer. Take out your computer and smell it to see if it is burnt. Good luck.

SOURCE: 1987 camaro won't start. Have spark but no fuel to engine

easiest way to check is to simply hop in your car leave the driver door open and turn the key to the first notch ... dont crank over teh engine! you should be able to hear teh sound of the pump as it pressurises your fuel system if you dont hear that then before you go to replace the pump check the wires leading to it. i made this mistake with mine the pump wasnt working so i tore apart the entire rear suspension dropped the exhaust and took out teh tank only to realize that after i put it all back together it still didnt work. right in front of teh tank the wires leading to teh pump go right over the exhaust on mine the wires had got just a little loose touched the exhaust and it burned thru them. a lil soder and heat shrink later and problem solved coulda saved myself $100 for the pump not to mention the week that i spent doin it all in my garage lol

I have a 1995 Toyota corolla and I recently noticed I had a gas leak I sealed the hole with JBL epoxy to hold me over until my new tank arrives but it looks as if there is oil mixed in with the gas .

Keep checking the oil level and the transmission fluid level to make sure they stay full, but there should be no oil in the gas tank.
There may be water, however, and it may be brown like oil.
Water will sit in the bottom of the tank and make rust underneath the gasoline, since gasoline floats on water.

I have a2002 exployer that will turn over but not crank everything comes on inside the car where should we start to figure out where the problem is

It sounds like it cranks good but won't start? Cranking is starter motor action. Make sure battery has a full charge. Have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs, gasoline engine.
If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Check for fuel injector pulse. How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? What about your security system, where applicable?

I have overhauled engine for Isuzu bighorn 1998 petrol/gasoline engine. the 6VE1.timing belt is ok. Still it has a had start.

is this the Single head cam or twin version?
no photo of engine, so answers will be weak.

double posted. is this the single cam or twin cam engine?????? per side, the twin cam has 4 cams. 2 /bank.
i can not understand your questions, at all.
ok you overhauled the engine,
nor can i understand , still hard start.
does that mean it cranks slow and turn runs and drive perfectly ?
or cranks fast, but hard to start and runs perfectly?
or does that mean it cranks fast, starts, then misfires and runs crapppy-pappy?
hark, the devil really is in the details, no?

Generic answer.
all the wires and sensors , hoses not put back correctly.
oil full, coolant full, fresh gas in tank,
then you crank engine with no spark (I pull fuses)
and the crank it until oil pressure is good. yah, do that.

if really savvy, we check for top end oiling next. cranked only.

ok looks like oil pressure is good,(I don't want to wreck a new engine) (also check compression on a new engine, to see if we messed up., if not 150psi or more, you timed it wrong)

then we crank it, ok, it cranks and don't start
I check spark and it's timing using my timing light, it's wrong, i retime it, no and its ok. as is ..
ok sparks good, on all 6 cylinders. checked carefully and for static time.

so now start engine on test fuel,
if fails, see above for why.!
ok it runs for say 2-3 seconds and stalls. good.
We yell at the gas engine gods. O'BOY my engine seems to be OK ! progress....

next is fueling , ill stop now, as typing a book on fuel injection
is not easy here.
but fuel pressure is next. on all EFI engines. as is good fuel.
when did car last drive perfectly, 1 month ago,
10 years. what?
if long ago, the gas is bad. as are related parts all gunked up, like filters, and injectors.
and even the pump, or its sock packed in GUNK.
as you can see we have no history on the car, so.
really anything is possible. even vandalism.

btw we never just throw and engine in a car.
we check.:
1: compression, gee even sitting on a pallet.!
why install (6hr labor) a dead engine,?
2: then cranked oil pressure, spark/fuel off line.
same reasons.
3: then if all that is ok, I do check top end oiling now, if not any top end, the cams will not last very long. they will smoke and seize up in a flash.

this is how its done correctly, ask how.

My car will turn over but will not start it just shut off on me and wont turn over enough to crank back ip Any suggestions on what the problem is it is a 2005 ford taurus

Remove the gas-cap, to let some air into the gas tank, to break the "vacuum" inside the tank. Then, the fuel-injection pump will be able to suck gasoline -- working against "normal" air-pressure, instead of working against a vacuum. Then, gasoline will reach the motor, and it will start.

Happens to me after using about 2 gallons of gasoline a while after filling-up the tank on my 2002 Taurus SLE. Letting air into the gas-tank works every time.

I have a 2004 Toyota Vios Soluna. It has 130,000kms and I am wondering if and when I am supposed to change the timing belt? thanks for your help, steve

If it's not specified in the owner manual, and if it's not already been replaced, 90,000 miles (144,000km) is probably the longest you should wait before replacing it.

95 dodge ram 1500 with 5.9 engine new coil, crank, cam, computer and wires and plugs only turns over wont start

Hi,here's what you need to do to find out the cause of your problem, and get your car back on the road.
  • Make sure that you have enough gas in your car. This sounds like common sense but many people don't think to check this before wondering why their car won't start. Try to refill your tank when it is no less than one quarter full, or you risk getting stalled or stuck somewhere.
  • Verify that the battery has a full charge. A battery with a low or partial charge can cause the engine to crank too slow preventing it from starting. Sometimes a jump will fix this problem, but if your battery is more than five years old you should consider replacing it, especially if winter is only a few months away.
  • Check to see if your fuel pump is turning on. This can easily be done by putting your key in the ignition, turning it to the "on" position, and listening carefully with your ear pointed toward the back seat. If your fuel pump is working you will here an electric "whirring" noise for about 2 seconds every time you cycle the key on and off. If you hear nothing then your fuel pump is faulty or not getting any power.
  • Find out if the engine is getting gas to it. Sometimes a plugged fuel filter or a problem with the fuel injectors can prevent the engine from getting any gasoline. To check this remove the air cleaner and smell inside the throttle body or air cleaner housing. If the engine is getting enough gas you should be able to sense a strong gasoline smell due to the amount of uncombusted fuel left inside the intake manifold.
  • Determine whether the spark plugs are firing. If there is plenty of gas but no spark, the engine will crank but not start. Unplug one of the spark plug wires and plug in a spark tester. Have a friend get in the car and crank the engine while you watch to see if the spark tester illuminates. You can usually purchase a spark tester at an auto parts store for about ten dollars.

97 Toyota camry

Unfortunately diesel leaves a residue in the lines and on the injectors.
There is only one cure for this, take out the injectors and get them serviced and flush all the fuel lines out with clean gasoline.
