Question about 2004 Dodge Caravan
Seems as if fuel filters or something is temporarily blocking fuel from flowing. Worse on inclines. But does happen on level ground. Begins to sputter and cut out until engine cuts off. I glide to the side of the road and in about 2-3 minutes it will start. Sometimes it will do it up to 3 times in 5 minutes but after that it can be months before it does it again. At first thought it was bad gas.
It could be a weak pump. It could be pretty old if you haven't changed it recently. To be sure, have the fuel pressure checked. Filters don't usually clog up and then start flowing again; once done, they're done.

do you still have the old style lift pump. located on the fuel filter housing or has it already been updated to in tank style. sounds like that to me. i've done a ton of them. chrysler has a whole conversion kit for this mod

SCAN YOUR CAR. HERE IS WHAT YOU DO. WITHOUT STARTING THE CAR, TURN THE KEY ON,OFF,ON,OFF,ON. WAIT SEVERAL SECONDS AND COUNT HOW MANY TIMES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES.IT WILL GIVE YOU A 2 DIGIT CODE, AND IT WILL NEVER BE MORE THAN 7 FLASHES IN A ROW. RE. IF YHE LIGHT FLASHES ONCE PAUSE THEN TWICE THAT CODE IS 12. A CODE OF 5 5 MEANS THE SYSTEM IS FINISHED DIAGNOSING. PLEASE GET BACK TO ME WITH YOUR CODES. GOOD LUCK.

It sounds like it could be the transfer pump. Turn the key on and then crank the engine for about 1 second but leave the key in the run position and listen for the transfer pump to run. It should run for about 15 seconds after you stop cranking. If not, then you will need to replace the transfer pump with a in-the-tank conversion kit if your is mounted on the side of the engine block below the fuel filter housing. If you already have the in-the-tank pump then it might be siezed or the "sock" might be plugged up with alge or other contaminants. I usually lift the bed rather than removing the tank to replace the fuel module. If the check engine light is on you might want to have it scanned for codes to make sure since the modules can be spendy.

My 2004 had the same issue and i replaced the transfer pump. It started right up and ran fine until the next morning i was driving it stalled. Now it won't start up not even with starting fluid.
