Question about 1999 Kia Sephia

My clutch pedal sticks to the floor after it's depressed

I drove the car last night with absolutely no problems and parked the car in my garage once I got home. I was ready to head off to take care of a few things. I stepped on the clutch to start my car and it immediately went into the floor. It doesn't come back up unless I physically pull it back up with my foot. I can start my car, but I cannot shift it. Help!!

SOURCE: clutch pedal goes to floor with no resistance.

Most clutches to are hydraulic assisted very much of not identical to you break system.

You have a malfunction in either the clutch piston, master cylinder, or line connecting the two. Usually this is very simple to diagnosis and fix. Closer inspection should lead you to the offending part, replace, fill with fluid and bleed off the air that will be in the line. .

SOURCE: head lights dimming and losing power while driving

Next time this happens, pull over and unscrew the gas cap. The vent may be clogged.

Otherwise, your catalytic converter may be failing. It can also clog and hinder engine exhaust.

Good luck !

SOURCE: clutch is sticking

More than likely the slave cylinder on transmission is leaking,< Hydrolic plunger that atttaches to clutch yoke > or possibly the master cylinder that operates it,< plunger sticking >. inspect them to find source of problem. If the master cylinder is low on fluid then there is a leak and slave cylinder most likely source.

SOURCE: WIll not shift out of park

it could be a malfunctioning brake light switch on the brake pedal. this is the switch the allows the gear shift lever to be moved from one gear to the other. You should also check the switch for proper adjustment.

My clutch won't engage 1997 Honda civic

Clutch plate and pressure plate seem to be too weak to pull the car. To test the clutch plate, park the car on flat surface. Pull the hand brake up, start the car, depress the foot brake pedal, depress the clutch pedal, put the car in 1st gear, press the gas pedal and leave the clutch pedal at once, while keeping the brake pedal depressed.
Follow one of the two following statements:
1. Engine does not shut down and remain start. (Clutch plate, pressure plate and clutch bearing defective - Replace all as a set)
2. Engine shuts down. (Clutch system is OK and does not require any repair).

Clutch pedal to floor on mini cooper

havent worked on one of these as yet so i dont know if its a cable or hydraulic ,either way you will have take it to a garage, put car in gear first and then start engine and the car will move as you start it in gear ,its easy to drive with no clutch just change the gears from getting the RPM right ,ease up on the throttle with one finger behind the stick and it come out of gear then rev angine a bit and as the engine RPM and road speed is correct it will go into gear smoothly .How do think you drove a decent truck like a seddon atkinson with no syncromesh on any gear ,showing my age here

The clutch might be a hydraulic system. When it's leaking oil the pedal sticks to the floor and has to be pulled back manually. Because it's designed to be fail safe, it still works but only for some time till all the oil has leaked out.

The burning smell might be clutch oil dripping on the exhaust - meaning the seal on the clutch servo is leaking oil.

There are repairkits for clutch servo's - usually it's suggested to replace the cylinder seal on the clutch pedal also.

1989 f150 4x4 clutch problem just replaced slave cyl and master cyl the clutch depressed will not let me put it in gear and it seems like u have to shove your foot thru the floor ?

I`ve seen this problem once before-it drove me to drinking! Check with your FORD dealer for any re-calls. I believe the problem may be in a weak fire-wall where the clutch master is fastened to. The Fire-wall actually cracks, therfore it flexes each time the pedal is depressed, therefore you cannot get any pedal travel...There was a re-call for this when I was fustrated with this problem (years ago)....

good-luck -let me know if this helps you..

Clutch sticking will not go into first

Ok it looks like there is no problem with the clutch or tranmission. You problem is that the clutch pedal is stiff and sticking to the floor. This sometimes happens when vehicles sit for extended periods of time. It might free up by working back and forth by hand. Have the vehicle off and the parking brake applied and push the clutch pedal up and down with your hand, It might stick to the floor and you may have to pull it off the floor a few times. You can also get some spray lubricant from your local canadian tire or auto parts store. open the hood and have someone move the clutch pedal up and down and spray the moving parts. It might take a few times to free up the stiff linkage but it will work :)

it sounds like the clutch master is bad it will look something like the brake master cylinder on the fire wall.you can try bleeding it there before replacing the clutch master loosen the lineup have have someone pump the pedal a couple times if you get agood shot of fluid have the person hold the pedal to the floor and tighten the line back up then bleed the system at the bleeder.

Clutch pedal suddenly goes to the floor, no longer [dis]engaging the clutch

I found that having a wood stick on the clutch pedal down to the floor all night (the other end of the stick held by the seat. oh yeah !!! ) would help to ease shifting for the first hour the next morning, then it would come back stiff and hard to engage in gear.
