Question about 1989 Volvo 240
My volvo 240 started dying on me lately, when using the window the headlights would dim, and eventually it dies and works for a few days with a battery charge.
I recently bought a new battery, and a "new" alternator for the car and had it installed. I took my voltometer to the battery. Car is off, it read 12.6, car at idle it reads 11.8, headlights -> 11.7 headlights+wipers -> 11.6, increasing rpms makes it lower.
Am i testing this right?
It seems to be running fine, but I just charged the battery before putting in the alternator, and its only been a day. Dont want to get stuck somewhere again.
If with the volt meter the amps go down while running and at increased rpms than your alternator is not charging right
