SOURCE: Blower on my 2004 Chev Colorado only works on high setting #4.

You need a resistor pack, which is likely located in the air box, near the blower motor.

SOURCE: my blower control switch only works on level 4 or the highest setting. could there be a loose connectror while I still get resistance and

There are two possibilities here, the first, is a bad connector to the blower resistor, which is a very common problem in Colorados. Disconnect the plug to the resistor and check for burn spots on the pins, if you detect burnt spots, then replace the connector. If no burn spots are detected, replace the resistor.

How to fix your heater in a 2005 mone carlo

I would need some more clarification to get you a 100% answer but based on some assumptions I can give you 2 possible solutions.

It is possible your blower isn't working. You going down the high way is getting enough air through the venilation to bring heat into your car. If this is the cas while you are parked turn your blower setting down to the lowest point. Listen then turn it up to the highest setting and listen again. If you don't hear a fan running on the highest setting you need to replace the blower.

The other possibility off the top of my head is a bad thermostat. Your car isn't getting hot enough to trip it until your on the highway. If this is the case simply replace the thermostat.

Interior fan hasn't worked properly for some time, would only work on fan's highest setting. Now we've got no air at all, regardless of setting.

Blower motor RESISTER has went bad. Its behind the blower motor; small hands are a definite plus for changing it.

Hi J, I believe the problem is with the resistor inside the the climate box. If you remove the covers from the side of the center consul and look carefully at the heater unit you should see a small panel (Maybe two inches square) with an electrical connection attached. Remove the plug and then the retaining screw and withdraw the unit. On the back of it you will see wire wound resistors. These are for the lower speeds of the interior fan operation and if blown the fan will only operate at the highest speed. either replace the unit or reconnect the broken wires and refit. Regards John

Why is my van overheating

First check coolant level, cooling fan and fan relay is working properly, water pump is working fine, thermostat isn't stuck or engine temperature sensor isn't sending right signal.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

2005 checrolet colorado overheats

A couple more things to check. First - are you sure it really IS overheating? I assume you think so, or you wouldn't have gone to the lengths you have to correct it. The reason I ask is sometimes the temperature sensor itself will go bad causing erroneous readings. That not the case, then think about this.....does the vehicle seem to be running okay at highway speeds, but not in town or in stop and go traffic? The fan clutch on the radiator fan can cause issues if it is too tight or too loose. A too tight clutch can overload the engine causing overheating. A too loose clutch can cause the fan to slip too much causing improper air flow through the radiator at slower speed and at idle. Since you aren't losing coolant, I agree that it probably isn't the head.

I have a 2004 Chev Colorado fan only works on #4 speed.

The fan speeds are usually 99% corrected by changing the fan resister board....usually near the fan motor under the dash in front of the pass seat.Cost .......around 30$ for the board. You can do it.
Follow the wires from the fan motor to the board connector.
