Hello There

The leak is from the water pump. I'm afraid the only solution is a new water pump.

Hope this helps and please don't forget to rate me.

Replace intake manifold gasket; 4.3L V-6

do you have a coolant leak or oil leak. ive always discarded the rubber gaskets provided in gasket kit, and instead, ran a good thick bead of silicone. The rubber gaskets, ive found, can be pushed out, either when setting intake on engine, or if the engine has a bad pcv valve, pressure within block can blow them out. make sure and check pcv valve. after the new intake gaskets are placed on the head, dab a bit more on the 4 corner nubs of the gaskets. i like to use an anearobic sealer around the coolant ports, just thin layer on both sides of gasket. hope this helps. My 1999 blazer is leaking antifreeze. can't really tell from where but it does not always leak. most of the time it is over the weekend when I am not driving it.

You can buy or possibly rent a coolant system tester which pumps air into it to help locate leaks. Very simple to use. You just remove your radiator cap and replace it with the tester and pump it up to the PSI listed on your radiator cap and watch for leaks. I would pay close attention to the water pump and intake manifold gaskets. It could be something as simple as a loose radiator hose clamp. It is common for intake manifolds to leak and they expand when hot and contract when cool so the leak is more noticable after sitting. Look on top of the engine around your intake manifold and your heater hose for coolant or a chalky like residue which can form from coolant leaking. Your water pump has what is called a weep hole on it which will be located behind the pulley close to the shaft. You may need to use a mirror to see it. If coolant is leaking out of it the water pump will need replaced.

I have a1998 chev. blazer. It had started running rough so I checked the oil and it was a milky colour . what is causes this?

If the oil in the engine has become yellow/white then you have probably got a headgasket problem. Look in the engines coolant expansion bottle. If you have an oil/water mix there too, it's a sure sign. hope this helps...

Ok i have a major antifreeze leak, looks like is pooring from underneith motor and cannot find the leak...truck hasnt heatet up at all just parked it and there was white smoke witch looked like it was...

You didn't mention how many miles are on the vehicle but your symptom points to a water pump with failed seals. They don't often fail at less than 100K but they can.

There is a small hole at the bottom of the pump housing that allows coolant to leak out if the seals fail to prevent the coolant from ending up inside the engine and damaging it.

What are signs of of bad intake gauset on a 99 chevy blazer

depends on whether its leaking coolant or air, since both run through intake. if leaking coolant, you will see coolant leaking from either the front or rear of the intake itself. it can also leak into the engine, causing coolant to mix with the oil. if its leaking air, usually a small leak will present more when the engine is cold, with rough running or high idle. a large leak will run rough all the time, but should be able to hear air hissing if large enough. a vacuum leak from the intake will sometimes present as a check engine light, with codes p0171 and/or p0172, depending on whether the leak is on one side or both.

Leaking coolant

I had the same problem and could not exactly pin point the leak until I took a real close look at the pump when everything was dry. I could see that the small weep hole was leaking which meant that the pump had to be replaced.
ruling out that there is a crack in the pump itself, it is more than likely to be a hose or its connection to the pump, the pump seal to the engine block or the weep hole on the bottom of the pump housing.

If you are to change out the pump yourself, you need remove several parts off the front of the engine so if you are not too confident, I would suggest paying someone to do the job.

Hope this helps

1996 Jeep cherokee, leaking coolant when cold/ hot ok.

waterpump houseing/shaft seal is on the way out hence the water/coolant, running along the block. when hot the seal does so, when cold and depressurising seal doesnt.
