If the engine will not crank in park or neutral, you may be able to jumper the brown pink and the tan red wires at the switch. I would not jumper them with the switch connected in the circuit.
I am assuming you have already checked the starter relay.

What am i missing? no power to starter selenoid.

is the immobilizer off ? any other device that stops power to start or run the engine. modifications alarm upgrades etc these can all stop the power to the starter. even ecu being switched off as ecu has a shunt so it can handle the power drain when engine is being started.

I have a 2000 mercury sable I replace the starter in car still not turning over won't start

Assuming the engine is not seized, you need to check the small wire on the starter solenoid for power when the key is held in the crank position for power. If no power during this procedure, you will need to check the starter relay as well as the neutral safety switch for proper operation. Will the vehicle start in neutral? If it will, suspect a defective neutral safety switch

What size belt do I need to bypass the ac compressor on a 2001 mercury sable

Many times you just order the belt for a vehicle WITH OUT AIR CONDITIONING, hope it does not contact other components in it's path.

Turn igintion switch, engine won't start

Has anyone checked to see if you have power at the starter when the key switch is in the start position ?
Could be several things including the battery, cables, starter, neutral safety switch, or key switch.

What is the problem of my car, mercury sable 2001,the rpm is too high even if it is in neutral?

Can be a vacuum leak which usually causes higher rough idling, but a dirty MAF sensor or dirty Idle control can cause it. don-ohio (:^)

Where is the neutral safety switch on a 1997 mercury sable?

It is part of/incorporated into the transmission range selector switch. The switch is under the hood on the transmission where the shift cable connects to the shift post. See picture

Yesterday went to town put my 2001 mercury sable in park and could not get it back in gear, after fighting with it for several mins. It went in gear, went to save alot did the same thing, turned ignition...

Brake Shift interlock system problem probably . This is a safety system that will not let you move the gear selector from park ,unless your foot is pressing on the brake pedal . Electrically controlled locking solenoid , wiring , brake switch used to control this .

Transmission Range Sensor and Neutral Safety Switch are the same thing. As for the other question, I'm not sure what you're asking.
