SOURCE: removing half shaft and ball joint 93 pontaic grand am right side

You need a spindle nut, a bearing puller and a tie rod puller. Get a Haynes manual and it will walk you through the installation.

SOURCE: trouble removing cv axle from 1999 pontiac grand prix

you will need to take the two bolts out of the strut that connects to the spindle backing plate.this will let the backing plate pull out enough to pull the cv axle out.

I'm hearing a clicking noise from front passenger tire when I turn

probably a bad passenger CV joint on the axle. You can purchase a completely rebuilt half shaft cheaper than you can replace one CV joint.

Have a plymouth breeze, every time I turn left it was making a loud clicking noise, now it sounds like a really bad loud scrubbing noise when I turned and drive starting last night. So it I cant drive it....

Probably a bad CV joint on one of your drive axles to the front wheels. You have two drive axles coming out of the transaxle, one to each front wheel, and both have an inner CV joint where they enter the transaxle, and an outer CV joint where the axles fit into the wheel hub. (A CV joint is really like the old U-joints, serving the same purpose.) A clicking noise on turning is usually a badly worn outer CV joint. The cheapest fix is to buy a remanufactured half-shaft for your car. That is the axle shaft with both CV joints at each end inspected and reconditioned with new grease and CV boots installed. You need to know which side is bad before buying. The half-shaft is sold ready to install. Someone with good mechanical skills will need to remove the old one and replace it with the new reconditioned axle shaft, or half shaft as they are also called. The last time I bought one (about two years ago) the cost was reasonable- about $65.00. That is less than the cost of one new CV joint.
Hope this helps you out.

Front left vibrates when accelerating is it a ball joint or a cv shaft

Most likely the axle needs to be replaced, if it only vibrates on accel. . A ball joint doesn't know if you are accelerating or not.

How do you get the left front cv's and half shaft out of the transmision?

there is a c-clip on the end of the axle that locks into a grove in the axle gear, they can fit pretty tight, some times you have to wrap a cable arond the in-board CV joint and aitches the cable to a slide hammer and give it a good pop, they do make a puller for the this purpose but it does just what i have told you to do. also some times you have to remove the other side axle and use a long screwdriver to go threw the trans-axle and push the axle out. most of the time you can just use a long chisel and put the tip on the lip of the CV joint and hit it with a hammer.

How to change a Cv joint on a 1997 Pontiac Grandam

While the car is still on the ground remove the half shaft nut then jack the car up and support it with jack stands and remove the tire. after you get the tire off you may have to remove the break caliper and the rotor, if you have to do this now. Remove the lower ball joint nut and break apart the ball joint with a large pry bar by prying down on the lower a frame. grab the steering knuckle with both hands and pull until the half shaft is free from the bearing hub assembly. then grab the half shaft and give it a good tug to remove it from the trans axle, you may have to pry it out with a small pry bar wedged between the inner cv joint and the trans axle. at this point I would replace the entire half shaft it is cheaper and a lot easier than replacing the cv joint. installation is reversed but be careful of the splines when installing the half shaft back into the trans axle and the bearing hub. Good luck.

Axle will not come out of the axle housing

I quote from service manual

1 . Raise and support the truck. Remove the rear wheels, the brake drum or brake caliper and rotor. If this is a disc brake, support caliper with wire. Remove seal retainer nuts from axle
housing.

2 . Pull out the axle shaft from housing. Remove the snap ring and bearing race from the axle shaft. Cut the bearing retainer. Break the bearing cage using a hammer and chisel and remove cage and rollers.

3 . Remove the oil seal, the seal retainer and the parking brake assembly (rear). Using a hydraulic press and bearing splitter, press the inner race from axle shaft. Inspect axle shaft for seal wear. Ensure that the shaft is not bent.
