You can check for broken wires on your turn signal lever where it goes into the steering wheel column or the cruise control module on the firewall on the drivers side under the hood has gone bad.It is an easy replacement and you can pick up a used one fairly cheap. Also the turn signal lever is fairly cheap at Autozone.

Check the wires and tube connections first. Then the fuses.
make sure they are all snug and ok. If they are, then the switch at the steering wheel has a problem (wire)- means a lot of messy work.
take steering wheel apart......
Or the actual cruise control unit under the hood has gone bad.

There is the possibility that one the computers is not working 100%.

There should be a Cruise Control relay too. Find one thats the same and switch them out, like the horn relay. If the Cruise starts working then you have a bad relay.

My cruise control will not hold/work on my 1993 Chevy Suburban

Check the vacuum dump valve at the brake pedal to verify it is adjusted ok and not leaking. Also check the vacuum source to the cruise control motor.

Cruise control stopped working

I had a similar problem with my 99 Suburban. After not being able to solve the problem for about six months, my headlamps stopped working on the low beams. This led my mechanic to change the multi-function switch on the steering column (turn signal/cruise control switch/high beams) When he did this he discovered that the wire terminals at the switch had gotten hot enough to melt a little, this allowed the ground terminal to slip out of the connector. Once replaced, the cruise control miraculously started working again. I have had no problems with it for the last four years. The local GM dealer told me later that they had quite a few trucks with the same problem and it typically started with customers noticing that their cruise control stopped working. Give this a try!
