Code for camshaft sensor came , replaced it but still check engine light is on

Has the timing belt been replaced per manufacturers recommendations? A loose/worn timing belt will cause cam lash and that can generate a fault code. Also i need the exact code as there are more than one for the sensor in question.

2006 Cobalt 2.2 litre has check engine light come on, then "engine disabled"


That code dsoesn't 100% mean the sensor is defective, other factors can set it. See list below.
Possible causes- Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted
- Camshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor
- Faulty starter motor
- Starting system circuit
- Dead (Weak) battery

Cause: Faulty PCM. (Powertrain control module)

I just had my engine light checked and they came up with the following 2 codes: PQ342 PQ217 What do they mean?


P0342 - camshaft position sensor A circuit low input
( bank 1 or single sensor )

P0217 - engine coolant over temperature condition

Was your issue the range selector switch (a.k.a. range sensor, prindle switch, park/neutral safety switch). Part # 37720-86z01?

It is located on the outside of the transmission on the front side (not between the transmission and the firewall). You can open the hood and put an eye on it.

Be VERY sure to alignment it properly AND to clear the code.
