Question about 1997 Plymouth Breeze

How do you disconnect the battery in '97 Plymouth Breeze

Trying to change the starter in a '97 Plymouth Breeze. I know the battery is under the wheel well, but there are jump start terminals on the engine. When I disconnect those, the lights/ radio, etc. don't work anymore. Is the battery disconnected, then? I don't want to go touching a metal wrench to the starter without making sure the battery connection is severed.

U have to disconnect the ground on the strut tower. That's y it has an extra hole in the plastic. Use that plastic hole to reconnect it that way it doesn't fall down and reground

So, when it's disconnected from the strut tower, the battery is disconnected? Just wanna make sure it's safe before sticking a metal wrench on the starter!

SOURCE: wiring schematic for plymouth grand voyager 1995

Is there green corosion on the tip of the wire ? Chances are the answer is yes. You will have to detach the fuse panel/box and run a new wire and connector to the fuse panel. Splice into the wire you can see, but make sur you cut enough of the wire off to get rid of the corrosion.Hope this helps.

Weak battery is my guess. You haven't mentioned any cran (GRR GRR), clicking noises, lack of dashboard lighting, or absence of sounds of a fuel pump noise (before the starter kicks in.)

Most of those fancy models, in order to get to the battery, you have to remove the right front wheel and remove the inner splash guard.

My 1999 Plymouth Breeze has a 2.0 engine and it says that a starter from a 98 Dodge Stratus will fit it. Does anyone know of any others that will fit it??

Easiest way to figure this out is to go to your favorite autoparts website and look up the starter for your car, then back out and look up the starter for a 1998 model Stratus. I checked the Autozone website for your Breeze and a 1998 Dodge Stratus and the part number is the same, 17618. So yes, A starter for a 98 Stratus will work on your 1999 Breeze. But you can check yourself if you want.

Can not find the starter on my 97 plymouth breeze. the car does not start. the battery is new and the lights and and horn work so everything is connected right

The starter will be on the driver's side of the vehicle, and you can trace the positive cable from the battery to the starter. It will be where the engine meets the transmission.
