Question about 1978 Cadillac Seville
Cadillac Seville gots Fuel (new Incectors, new fuel trail, new carburetor, all new sensors, new fuel pump, new tubes, enough fuel) and got spark, but orange instead of blue (new distributor cap and new rotor, new wires and new sparks). Also the air flow is ok new filter), has enough of power, freshly loades and new battery) and the starter runs (new starter, new wiring), but the car doesn't start. When I check the connection from the battery + to the pink wire on the distributor, I measure 13,5 Volts, but as soon as I turn the starter key to the running position (without starting) the voltage falls down to 0,150 to 0.250 Volts. when I try to start, as soon as the starter runs, the voltage goes up to 0,600 to 0,800 Volts, but the car doesn't start. Where shall I check next, what can be the problem? thank you for all help. regards Bruno

Have you tested the new battery? Would not be the first bad battery I have seen come off the shelf. If the battery tests good check your battery cables.

Hello! when you say you checked the MAP sensor what do you mean? Did you take voltage readings at idle ? A vacuum leak is the likely culprit, especially to the MAP...The minor shake at idle being the major clue...Send a comment...guru..saailer

I REMEMBER WORKING ON THE EARLY 80S MODEL CARS.I WOULD SCAN IT.IF YOU GET CODE 55 YOUR PCM FAULTY.IF YOU GET CODE 12 NO DISTRIBUTOR REFERENCE PULSES TO ECM OR PCM. POSSIBLE CAUSE OPEN IGNITION COIL OR BAD PICK UP COIL OR IGNITION MODULE.

I had similar problem. Coolant temp sensor was reading wrong and telling computer that engine was always cold and feeding too much gas. If it's really bad, you'll see black smoke out exhaust.
