Power window drverside not working

It seems to be off track somehow it would work if you helped it manually. Now that it was rolled down compleately the moter will work sometimes. Sounds like there is a relay clicking when not working and when it does seems as though battery is weak????? Is there a relay for drivers side only, other side is fine. If I could find diagram for both electrical and mechanical.i think I could solve this. ps I know 240z 70-71 to frame off restore if I can help anyone with that. thanks for any advice Brian

There would be no relay for driver's side only. If the clicking is from the door, the gears on the motor may be stripped or the lifting mechanism, the track, may need checked. You will have to pull off the inner door panel to check. You just may need a new motor or a new regulator mechanism.

On further reflection, I think you have a bad, failing window motor. If the clicking was from the fuse panel, that could have been the window's circuit breaker kicking on and off, as the motor was drawing too much current. Circuit breakers are often used in power window circuits, as they trip right back on when cooled enough-a few seconds.

SOURCE: fuse box diagram

it can't possibly be a fuse if your front windows are working.
i also have a 94 taurus and this same thing has occured, the L-R window won't move at all. but all of my other windows work. it is probably a bad window motor. I've heard a lot about 94's having this problem. take it to the dealer and see if they have any Technical Service Bulletins about this.

SOURCE: The driver's side window will NOT go down. All the other windows go down fine. The locks all work.

ford window motors are bad about burning out. if you can get the door panel off try tapping the motor with a hammer and see if it frees up. if it does, you know the motor needs to be replaced. otherwise the contacts on the switch may be dirty. check the fuse too, just in case.

SOURCE: 2002 F-150 Power window problem

I have a 2001 Saturn L200 and just had the same problem. Just finished smoking a cig before driving into work and my passenger side window would not go up and it was snowing!!!

After checking this website I quickly found out that this a fairly common defect with the Saturn brand! Since the window switches are located in the middle counsel, they tend to dirty very easy, especially if you smoke, eat, or spill a drink in your car.

Before you go too crazy and pull anything apart...the switch may just need a good cleaning!

You will need a(n).....

  1. large flat head screw driver (3/4" width)
  2. very small flat head screw driver (1/8-1/4" width)
  3. duct tape
  4. Q-tips and toothpicks
  5. cup of HOT soapy water
  6. blow drier or compressor air blaster
Use some small strips of duct tape and cover both screw drivers with tape to protect against scratching the counsel and switch. There are two metal clips under the north and south positions of the perimeter of the switch. Take the small screwdriver and start at the top using small prying movements until you see some give. Take the large screwdriver and use it as a wedge. Continue carefully with the small prying movements and then follow up with the large screw driver all the way around the perimeter until the switch pops out.

Now use the large screwdriver to disconnect the switch from the electrical plug....while in there....check for dust, dirt, and sticky residue from drinks.....clean as needed! Next, examine the switch to see that it is operating correctly. **My car had pop spilled on the switch and was causing it to remain stuck in the down operation of the window!**

Disassemble the switch completely and you will see three pieces. Use the hot soapy water and q-tips and toothpicks to clean every piece good. Be careful to not use too much water on the circuit board you could cause permanent damage! Finally, use an air compressor to air blast each piece good until dry! At this point I was able to get the switch function properly again.

All you should have to do now is work backwards and reassemble the switch into the counsel. Test the operation of your passenger window. If this does not work then you will need a new or replacement switch.

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Driver window will not work.

You need a small piece of aluminum foil ( like inside paper of a box of cigarette ) . Fold it somehow to become same size as the connection or a little bit biger. Put it between them. You should open the thing that make windows go up & down from the door and find the connection place. But watch to not destroy the wire. It is easy. I am not sure if I explain it enough. But it worked for me.

My driver side window will not roll down properly. I stops about half way and seems to bend inward toward the car instead of going down further. I have taken the door panel off and can not tell exactly...

remove the door panel. it may have come off track. go to any auto parts store and buy a haynes manual for your specific car. they are based on a complete teardown of vehicle. this book will show how to remove door panel. they are about 20 to 25 dollars.

Window fell into the door

These cars have a window regulator that is made with a cable and a plastic wheel that the cable rolls around. Once it wears out you need to replace the whole regulator, it comes with new motor. Look on ebay, cheapest way to buy a new one. You can take off door panel and push window back up and wedge or vise grip so it wont fall back down.

Driver's window won't roll up all the way

If you have power windows it should be a broken cable, If its manual then it should be the crank asm. or the white plastic trac, it may torn at the end.

Cable fell off track

You will need to Remove the Door Panel. Look for Screws and Screw Hole Covers first. Start at the Bottom of the Panel and work your way up. There are Holes in the Door Behind this that will allow Access to the Window and Components. Just look and see if the Glass is Off Track. If it is Use Clear Silicone and Reinsert the Glass. Roll it up all the Way and wait 24 hour or more for it to Dry before you roll it down again. If it is a Belt or something, You will be able to see it. If it is gone, Reach down inside the Door at the Bottom and Locate it.

Rear window on 1986 ford bronco

I had the same problem with mine and I drilled out the rivets holding the motor in. Have someone hold the window up when you do this so it don't fall. after you get it drilled and you can let it down you should be able to remove the window from the track through the panel. It has been a while since i had done it but the window motor was very reasonable.... make sure you are getting power to the motor before going through all of this because you might be able to put power to it and make it roll down.
