Question about 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE
Once i plug in my stock stereo the door chimes sound even with the keys out of the ignition. every door is shut i have pulled alll the fuses in the passenger door and under the hood trying to find the fuse to turn it off so i can have my radio plugged in. But the only solution i have found was to keep the stero unplugged is there anything else i can do to fix this i need my music to calm my babies. please help me!!! Thanks
Chimes are generated by the radio. Unplugging the radio and then plugging it in can activate the security feature in the radio and is very unwise. You can try resetting it by disconnecting the negative battery wire, then plugging the radio in and reconnecting the battery wire. If that doesn't work, check with a dealer to see if they can reset it, but if the radio has been damaged by what you are doing, you may have to replace it.

I haven't seen that happen on a Grand Am yet, but my best guess is either the headlight relay is bad or the ignition switch is defective.

Inside the glove box on the passenger side you will see an opening. Use a light and you will see that it says "pull here", remove the plastic and the fuses are right behind it.

6. Release door lock switch on drivers door panel.
A Chime will sound 3 times indicating that you are in programming mode.
7. Press both the Lock and Unlock buttons on the remote up to 30 seconds.
A chime will sound 2 times if remote has programmed successful.
8. Repeat step 6 if you are programming additional remotes.
9. Remove key from ignition to exit programming mode.
NOTE: If you are having trouble getting this procedure to work, we have found that some vehicles need step 3 to be done before step 2
