does this engine have an automatic shutdown system

  • Mike B Apr 19, 2013

Motor is seized when you try to start the car with a good battery and the engine wont even turn over at all... It will typically just make the proverbial "click" of the starter and then possibly some electric "humming" sound. But the engine itself will not crank over at all.

When an engine runs out of oil, friction causes everything to get extremely hot... The engine will eventually stop running, but this is after the major damage has been done. Usually the motor will seize and more often than not will need to be completely replaced.

    Hello!!

  • Mike B Apr 19, 2013

To my knowledge there is no automatic shutdown system. One would think that something like that should exists in this day of computer controlled cars, but alas, it does not. I think the "fear" is that if the motor automatically shut down, it could potentially make the auto manufacturer liable in case of a subsequent collision, injury or death.

Is their a freeze plug on intake manifold that could cause radiator fuild leak

freeze plugs are normally located on the side of the engine block. check coolant hoses that r running close to intake manifold, if u have coolant in ur oil, or oilin ur radiator then u have head or head gasket problems.

How many quarts of oil does a 1993 ford tuarus take

The capacity for your Tarus is 4.5 qts plus the filter. What this means is 4.5 qts in the motor and a half a qt for the filter. You never want to run your engine with that lapse without oil when the filter is filling up at initial start.ITs recommended that you run a 10W-30 in it.

Any brand of 5W30 oil is fine. Just buy any decent oil (Castrol, Penzoil, etc.), but not any one labelled "Synthetic".

Is there an low oil pressure automatic engine shut

Ouch. This one doesn't sound good Adrienne. Sorry. No automatic shutdown for low oil unfortunately. 1.25 qt of oil isn't enough. Sure sounds like a seized engine.

1998 Ford windstar oil leaked out and now there is a nocking sound on the bottom of of the engine.

If you lost all or almost all of your oil and happened to start and run the engine before you discovered the oil loss, you have probably spun a bearing. It needs to be checked by a professional but you are probably in the market for another motor. Hope this helps.

1998 ford tarus over heating

There is a lot more to the cooling system than the radiator and thermostat. 97 and 98 taurus' are prone to cooling fan failure. They also have issues with the coolant turning to a rusty colored sludge that can plug the radiator, and it let go long enough can eat the fins off the impeller in the water pump even cause it to break free from the shaft.

Mazda mx3 clicking when cold

This is because the oil hasn't circulated in the HLA (hydrolic lash adjusters) that is ontop of the valves/springs under the cam. Once they are full with oil, the clicking stops and they opperate properly! Try running a thicker oil, other than that it's not a big problem unless the ticking is very loud or doesn't stop after it's warm.
