SOURCE: 1993 TOYOTA TERCEL 1500cc Valve Seals Replaced now smokes much worse

You either have had the wrong valve seals installed, they are physically missing, or the valves are incorrect (too loose in the guides/stem too thin). The rocker arm seals will not contribute to your issue. If it did not have the oil smoke before you took the head off, the issue is with whatever the machine shop did. Valve seals have to fit TIGHT, or oil will go down the valve stem into the intake.
Take the head back to the machine shop & tell them to fix it. For free.

SOURCE: replace valve stem oil seals

Make up an airline fitting that will screw into spark plug hole, or buy from autoparts , or tools supply place. You put compressed air in cylinder while changing, which holds valves in place.

SOURCE: 1996 VW Jetta with 2.0 engine. Dies when slowing from high RPM

I would check the EGR if your car has one it could be sticky, A Renault laguna we had did the same thing, died when letting it down to idle but would
recover, or when it died it would run fine on idle when restarted.
EGR was sticking on it. Vacuum lines could also be an issue.. EGR need vacum to work properly. Trotle body could also be worn, but normally that gives you an uneven idle.

Why? You need a repair manual. Try if they have it, or or your Auto parts store, or library.
If you DIY you will need to remove the head. Then may need a hydraulic press at machine shop to press out the old and install a new.

Engine smokes when I let up on accelerator

when you let up on the accelerator the vacuum in the manifold reaches 20 inches of vacuum or more. If the valve stem seals are worn/hard or cracked this high vacuum draws air and oil from the head down into the combustion chambers and this is blue smoke out the back It is the same as if you let the engine idle for several minutes and then rev it up and you get blue smoke out the back. It is also possible that if the rings are worn you may get the same affect. I would go for valve stem seals or worn valve guides.

Why a 2001 daewood leganza car shokes when accelarating

If this occurs after being stopped at lights or the engine has been idling then it is because the valve stem seals are failing and the vacuum at idle is sucking the oil past the stem seals They can be replaced by a qualified skilled mechanic without removing the head

Mercury mystique throws out a huge amount of smoke and the engine idles what can it be ?

Smoke from an idling engine that shows when the engine is reved up indicates worn valve stem seals and worn valve guides. If the engine has some age on it then the stem seals are probably hard and cracked allowing the oil to be drawn into the combustion chamber past the valve stem. A skilled mechanic with the right equipment can replace the seals without removing the head so ask around for some one who does it on a regular basis.

Suspect valve stem seal caused smoking after being idle, replaced head gasket set and p'rings,t'belt, plugs, oil & air filter as there was no service history at 66,000 miles. fired up fine...

If it only smokes after you crank it up and then stops after it warms up usually that is the valve seals letting oil leak down in the cylinder after you cut it off .

My 1985 corvette smokes out the exaust only when at idle and engine at running temperature.

most likely worn valve guides and probably dry cracked and fallen off valve stem seals you may get lucky with just replacing valve stem seals but may need guides installed in heads

Hi my ford granada 2.8 carb 1984 started idleing rought and kicking blue smoke out just bought new head gasket set but the valve stem seals are tight and is that a problem danny

Blue smoke = oil is burned. You have an oil seal that is worn out so yes, the valve stem seals might be the ones. Replace them and check again.

Check your vacuum lines, make sure there is no leaks, and go from there, then all you electrical connection in the engine compartment.
I have a 1996 Jetta Trek Edition, the hoses, and wire harness, are so brittle, any movement can cause hoses and wire insulation to crack.
