2000 bonnevile trac off light and abs light on
The ABS light is the Anti Lock Break system light. You may have a malfunction in there. . . Take it to your qualified brake specialist and have him check it out. completely. You may have a leak in the system, the traction control is controlled by the button on the console where you can turn it off and on. If you have tried the button, take it to a car repair service or a ugh dealership and get the problem diagnosed with advanced software. Do mess with your life, fix the brakes.

I asked the mechanic when I got the new tires put on and he said this could be 'fixed' by repacking the bearings. This is plausible if one or more are dragging and causing the sensors to detect too much variation in the speeds.
Since the new tires have been on, only a few errors and not any lately even with a sharp turn. The temperature seems to have an effect.
i will ask more mechanics in the next few weeks and report.

You are spinning your tires ... read your manual ... shut off the traction control .... spin away!

These two are linked together the abs light is probably on for a bad component like a wheel speed sensor or something like that, this will automatically trigger the TRAC light to come on. To check it must be done by a code scanner/computer. This can be check at an auto zone for free. Then I will be able to help with the code. In most case the most common problem is one of the four wheel speed sensors for the abs system. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA.

One of the "hall effect" sensors may have a damaged lead, or the sensor itself has failed.
