The ABS light is the Anti Lock Break system light. You may have a malfunction in there. . . Take it to your qualified brake specialist and have him check it out. completely. You may have a leak in the system, the traction control is controlled by the button on the console where you can turn it off and on. If you have tried the button, take it to a car repair service or a ugh dealership and get the problem diagnosed with advanced software. Do mess with your life, fix the brakes.

I asked the mechanic when I got the new tires put on and he said this could be 'fixed' by repacking the bearings. This is plausible if one or more are dragging and causing the sensors to detect too much variation in the speeds.

Since the new tires have been on, only a few errors and not any lately even with a sharp turn. The temperature seems to have an effect.

i will ask more mechanics in the next few weeks and report.

SOURCE: abs light and trac off light both came on dash at same time

These two are linked together the abs light is probably on for a bad component like a wheel speed sensor or something like that, this will automatically trigger the TRAC light to come on. To check it must be done by a code scanner/computer. This can be check at an auto zone for free. Then I will be able to help with the code. In most case the most common problem is one of the four wheel speed sensors for the abs system. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA.

One of the "hall effect" sensors may have a damaged lead, or the sensor itself has failed.

MY 2000 DODGE NEON ABS DASH LIGHT,AND THE TRAC LIGHT ON THE DASH IS STAYING ON

These two lights work together. The traction control uses the ABS to work. You most likely have a bad wheel speed sensor. Have it scaned with a scan tool under the ABS. Replace which ever sensor it says is open.

Service engine, abs, trac off

The service engine light does not affect the abs.You most likely have a broken wire in your abs system which is affected by suspension movement.A code reader which does abs codes will tell you which wheel circuit is turning on the abs light. When there is no abs available the track will turn off.

ABS and Trac off light coming on during drive

Usually that means either the ABS wheel sensors are defective, or the vehicule speed sensor in the transmission is defective. You simply need to find out which one, and getting the codes out of the OBD system will help find out which one usually. To do so you will need to ask someone with a code reader because the old GM jumper trick to have the check engine light flash you the code only work with older OBD-1 systems, and your 2000 model has and OBD-2 system which was standardised by government law at arround 1996.
