Where is fuel temp sensor located on a 2002 Mitsubishi galant

Most mitsubishis incorporate the ambient temp sensor circuit sensor in the tanks sending unit. You may want to reset the computer by unplugging your battery for a few minutes and reconnecting it to clear the code if you don't own a scan tool. Beware this method of computer clearing as some Japanese cars have a security feature built into the radios if you lose power to the car. Make sure you have the radio code handy if you use this method. Hopefully, the code will stay cleared and you will not need to drop the tank to replace the fuel level sending unit where the temp sensor is usually located. Check to make sure the unit has a good ground first before replacing. Good luck, I hope this helps

02 Galant slightly overheating after driven about 50 miles. Have replaced coolant, thermostat, temp sending unit and radiator cap

Drain the system again and try back flushing the radiator and the block - using a high flow rate of water try flush in the opposite direction of the normal water flow, ie. out of the radiator filler cap and out of the block top hose (remove the thermostat). Be careful to do this on the engine when it is cold. Also check that the radiator core is not obstructed by leaves, insects etc. If this does not work, check the ignition timing, brakes for binding, wheel alignment and even tyre pressures. All these things can contribute to an increase in engine operating temperatures

How do I replace the fuel pump on my 1997 Mitsubishi Galant?

The step by step procedure is given below
  1. Take the back seat out with clips under driver's and pass sides.
  2. Remove the four screws on plate and disconnect wiring harness.
  3. Remove wire harness clip. Disconnect HP fuel line at line connection. Squeeze other clip and remove LP line.
  4. Pull Sending unit out carefully, not to disrupt the float at end of sending unit.
  5. Clean seals and spaces on tank.
  6. Replace pump and/or sending unit.
  7. Galants do not have fuel filters, so make sure you change the internal sock or screen.
  8. Rebuilt same way you took out. Don't smoke, and all your repairs are in the car.

Temp gauge shows hot even if engine has been off overnight?

Locate the temperature sending unit and pull the wire off of it. Turn the key to the on position (do not start) then have someone touch that wire to a ground source and the temp gauge should go from one extreme to another (cold to hot). If the gauge does that, you have a bad sending unit...if it does not move, you have a bad gauge or problem with the wiring to the gauge.

All the temp sending unit does is act like a variable resistor depending on the coolant temp...if it is bad, it will give you a false reading.
