Question about 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan

Open Question

Auto transmission will not engage when cold.

When I first start my 2000 dodge caravan it's 4 speed auto transmission will not engage and move the vehicle for 20 - 30 seconds. The engine just revs up and the van does not move. After the 20 - 30 seconds every thing appears to work properly until the next morning. When I check the transmission fluid level, every thing looks to be ok. The van has 49,000 miles on it.

Possibly stuck valve in the transmission get a product like transX or Seafoam or lucas transmission conditioner and follow the instructions on the bottle this may help. Check to see if the fluid in the transmission is burned looking and smells burned if so I would change the fluid and filter in the transmission. With only 49kmiles on it I doubt it's any thing major. It shouldn't be anyway. well good luck. I hoped this helped.

I got a 1999 doegw caravan 4 cyl where is the shift solenoid located in the tranny or on the tranny

What kind of problem do you have? If it is a 4 cylinder caravan, they usually have a 3 speed auto that doesn't have any shift solenoids. If it does have the 4 speed auto, the shift solenoids are on the front of the transmission case.

2000 Dodge Intrepid Transmission slow to engage

Only check the level when it has been driven and warm. And while it is still running. Now, for the slow engagement, It may be draining fluid back into the pan, from the torque converter. Let it idle a little while before trying to drive it. That will fill the torque converter back up, and will drive right away. Takes about 2 minutes of idle time to fill the torque converter. Now, drive it and then, while it is still running, in park, check the fluid level in the transmission. It very likely could be low and could also be the slow engagement cause.

This is about as close as you can get to brain surgery on a car! Your cost would be close to $2000! The chance it would even move is about 5%! At best!

Transmission noises from a 2000 dodge caravan 2.4L

normally should take 6-8liters when empty. If it is making those noises keep a tow truck on speed dial.Dodge does not make a very strong transmission.Could be that you just need the bands adjusted but I suspect you either need to rebuild or replace it

Transmission problem

Sounds like some of the seals are leaking by in the valve body. Pretty expensive rebuild.

I recommend a product called KW TransX. (Blue metal container) You can find it at Auto Zone and Advanced Auto Parts. Follow the directions problems will go.
