Question about 1992 Lexus Ls 400

1 Answer

1992 Lexus LS400- slowing down on interstate for no reason, then speeds up, slows down. Is this possibly throttle issue

I think the 2 dealers who diagnosed my problem would have picked up on a fuel pump problem. The first dealer changed the throttle position sensor and it worked well for several weeks. Then it happened again. The next dealer could not find anything wrong so after having the car for two weeks, I left having nothing done. They hope it was a fluke....So I am on pins and needles with a 500 mile drive facing me in a couple of weeks.

1992 Cadillac Deville ideals really slow and miss's when I step on the throttle

Do this frist and then if the miss is still there have the spark plugs and plug wires replaced.

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

I have a ls400 1993.My car starts fine. But when I accelerate it moves very slow them picks up speed after a few minutes. repeats at every stop... Please help.

Throttle position sensor may be faulty. They do not always show fault codes.

There is a vehicle speed sensor too that may also be at fault. but the TPS is easier to get at initially.

My 93 Lexus LS400 won't start. It clicks and according to the battery charger it has a full charge. when i first turn the ignition is slowly wines down then clicks. let me know. thanks

your battery isn't fully charged, or your battery contacts need to checked/cleaned!! The starter isn't getting enough power, this is the reason for the slow spin and clicks.

Loss of power on a lexus ls400

the ls400 had problems with the mass air flow meters acting up. You will have to have it tested because they are not cheap. U can get a used one for around 100.00. They cause the car to boog down while trying to accelerate. Check the wires going to the mass air flow to make sure they are making good contact. I have seen this cause a problem. The mass air flow is located on the hose that goes to the throttle body. I have a good one for a 94 to bad you do not live in texas. leave comment
