My acura 3.0 cl makes a knocking sound on left turns. I had the upper ball joints replaced but that did not solve the problem.

CV joint - wheel side needs to be replaced :) right wheel, a lot of people drive like that for a while before they fix it so don't worry, also it shouldn't be soooo expensive

I have a knocking as i do long left hand turns from the front nearside of the car (2003 x type jag) worse if someone sat in passenger seat

There are several components that could cause noise from the front when turning. I am assuming when you say the Front nearside you are saying the fromt left wheel is where the knocking is comming from when making a left turn. The components to be concerned about are, Wheel bearings, Ball Jionts, Tie rod Ends, CV joints and brake rotors.
Wheel Barrings:
Jack the car up under the control arm until the wheel is off the ground about 3 inches. Slide a pry bar ybder the tire and place the other hand on the top of the tire. As you lift and lowere the pry bar fell for loose movement in the tire. If there is such movement you have a bad wheel bearing.
Ball Joint:
Repeat the test above and watch the upper and lower ball joints for movement. Is there is movement replace the bad ball joint.
Tie Rod ends:
With the tire still off the ground grip the tire in the front and back and rey to move it as if your were trying to turn the tire. Watch the tie rod ends for loose movement. If they are loose replace them.
CV joint:
The Joint is housed in a rubber boot. If you can feel the joint inside the boot you can turn the tire forward and back and feel for play in the joint. If you are not able to feel the play you can loosen the clamp on the boot and push the boot out of the way. Then repeat the test.
Brake Rotors. Inspect the brakes for wear and any signs of pitting or grooves in the rotors.
You need to take this seriously because if you have a Ball joint or tie rod end break while driving, it will cause a wreck.

I recently replaced a ball joint on my 1997 civic. Since then my front end wobbles back and forth, mainly at low speeds, and ususally after turning left. Clearly something is loose and or wrong.....what do...

When you say I, do you mean you? Upper ball joint,
you had to replace the control arm. Lower ball joint,
you remove the steering knuckle and have a machine
shop replace the ball joint. I would back track and make
sure no bushings or bolts are missing and all is tight.
Of course there is always the possibility the ball joint
replaced is defective. If you personally didn't replace
the joint-take it back. Sounds dangerous.

There is a knocking coming from underneath the left side. i've replaced upper control arms and ball joints and lower balljoints, inner and outer tierods and swaybar links and still didn't solve problem

check to make sure the strut is good and tight up top. There's 3 nuts there. and i'm assuming it's the original air suspension. if it's been converted could a bad strut itself.

Recurring Front end squeak in 97 Acura CL

lol, can either go the route of the previous persons solution or you can- if you are positive the sqeak is coming from the ball joints-spray some WD-40 on it. I wouldnt suggest replacing it again, since you just did it and chances are there is nothing wrong with the integrity of the part, your just getting an annoying byproduct lol. Like when belts sqeak(which p's me off but i just turn my radio up lol).

What is the process to replace the ball joints in my 2002 acura tl type s? what steps are involved? will i need to replace anything more than the ball joints?

The upper ball joint is an integral part of the upper control arm and the lower ball joint is an integral part of the spindle.

Ball joint nocking or strut tower

CV joint, the strut does not make a knocking sound unless its totally
shoot and the car is bouncing to its high and low limit.

If you push down on the car and it bounces a little then the strut is shoot.

The cv joint will knock if it is bad when you turn the wheel, when it gets real bad,it will knock when driving in a straight line.

I have a '99 Explorer XLT AWD that I just had the ball joints (uppers and lowers), shocks, new tires and front end alignment all replaced. I still hear a knock that sounds like the ball joints. I took it...

Nice advice from the "mechanics"! Jeez....okay, are a few things to look at:

Namely, check the tie rods...the ball joints, make sure they got greased. Sounds like you have a "joint" problem. Something is not lubed properly.

Is this noticeable in a quick/fast turn and, can you hear it in a slow turn maxing out your turning raduis?
