SOURCE: odometer error
This is a stepper motor problem in the instrument cluster. Each indicator be a gas, speed o, temp, etc it is run by one of these motors GM had a recall on some products I understand. These can be repaired but it must be pulled ans sent off takes about 5 to 7 days and cost 170.00 this includes return shipping, exchanges are available but I had mine repaired. Contact Carl at this address for info and details. firstname.lastname@example.org.. You can also see and check out his service on EBay, 2003 2004 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO GAUGE CLUSTER REPAIR

Sadly no, there is no fuse or bulb to replace. You either have to send the instrument cluster out for repair or replace it with a new unit from the dealer. You could also obtain a serviceable one from a salvage yard. Most shops should be able to replace the instrument cluster or advise who can repair it.

The problem is going to be a worn or broken odometer gear. You can purchase the gear at odometergears.com for $29.00 with the shipping. Follow their how to repair on the Mustang to help in the repair. I believe you will have just the worm gear to replace.

The resisters on the back of the odometer fell off. they can be re solder if you can find them. That is what happened to mine. i stumbled on video directions on youtube. just pull out you cluster. there are 4 resisters on ther right top side of the of the PC board. if there still there they will be blackend and burned. just roll your finger on them and if they fall off easy there bad. you can buy replacement resistors for like $3 and same your self a $100 to fix or worse. buying a new one. ther resistors i used were 1/2 watt 150Ohm 5% tolerance resistors. and they can be bought from any raido shack. i hope this helps.
