No fluid comes out of bleed valve when opened why

Trying to gravity bleed slave cylinder on 96 ford ranger. no fluid comes out of bleed valve. reservoir is full.

I had the same problem with my 1995 1500 p.u.. Assuming your clutch slave cylinder is the concentric style. If not disregard. I hate that set up. what the hell was wrong with the old outside of the bell housing slave/ mechanical style fork and throw out bearing bla bla? Its because ford as well of the rest of the lovely auto makers decided long ago to make them as hard as hell to repair on you own. Ive been told theres a spsecial tool just for this bleeding task. Pobably. They make those tools to sell to us so they can further profit from us poor suckers.Also I wonder on your model if its concentric, does it have the difficult sized bleeder valve as mine did? or have they gotten a little more user friendly? doubt it. In my case as this style is a closed system I followed the bleeding intructions to a tee. That did get alot more clutch action for me, after 15 attempts.However I do believe the problem after looking and further inspection under the dash? look up under the dash and inspect your pedal rack and frame. I found mine was cracked and the cause of poor aliegnment. check for that rite away. I located another rack but before I got around to replacing it, the tranny blew, and the trucks sitting on my dads property. Its still a danmed good truck and one of these days I will get on it again. Anyway up untill the tranny blew I was never able to get more than half the distance from the pedal and besides the rack problem I would love to know the bleeding anser, that is if Im off target. Going to be up against it again when I replace that transmission. Hope this helps a little. Food for thought maybe? If you find out something more helpful post it so I will know too.

did you try to take line off at slave cyl. and see if fluid comes from resavor? also take bleeder out and see if holes are pluged up in bleeder. if all this chks. out ok than its got to be slave cyl. they have been known to go bad. just that quick too.

If there is no bleedr, the loosen the lie and get fluid to at lest that point. The bleeder, not having onwe is unlikely, no offemce, just make sure. If the bleeder is anywhere it dhould or would be at a point higher than the line on the slave cylinder down on the bell housing. Open it and let gravity takr over unti the fluid drips steasdy. Slowly depress clutch once to get fluid moving.If long term non usem The cylinders, master and slave, good luck may have leakage needing replacement.l good luc and be careful. be sure brakes are set and vehicle is in neutral when underneath. Engine need not be running.

I dont want to make you feel silly but it seems like you loosened a grease nipple and not a bleed screw. A small amount of fluid (if the slave cylinder is not new) is normal. Their is no way grease can get into the fluid system. Take off the feed pipe to the slave cylinder Try pumping the pedal or use your vacuum pump from there.Get someone to pump the pedal holding your finger on the end of the pipe to see if their is any preasure comming that far if not its your master cylinder if you have preasure check the slave cylinder again for a bleed screw. It seems more like the master cylinder unless it ran out of fluid otherwise how did air get in. You should also check if the slave cylinder or the bar comming from it is adjustable Sometimes their is a screw on the bar others have oblong holes to move the slave cylinder back or forward

Take the top off the master cyl and slowly very slow push in on the clutch and watch for any bubbles comming up.Replace the top and pump pressure and bleed at the master direct by using the lines for bleeders.

They will usually gravity bleed with little or no problem. Crack the line open at the master just enough to let fluid start out, then tighten. Open the cap on the reservoir in case a vacuum has built up and won't let the fluid flow to the slave cylinder. Open the bleeder and push clutch pedal down. Close bleeder and let the pedal up, and repeat until you have fluid come out the bleeder in a steady stream.

How do I bleed a hydrolytic clutch on a 1989 Nissan d21 truck 4x4


There is a bleed valve on the slave cylinder that is on the transmission bell housing. Use an 8 or 10 mm wrench and loosen the valve, then snug it just hand tight. Now have someone depress the clutch pedal. As the pedal is depressed, loosen the bleeder and let air or fluid out. Close the valve as the pedal hits the floor, then repeat until a steady stream of brake fluid comes out of the bleeder as the clutch is depressed.

In many cases, the hydraulic clutch will gravity bleed when the bleeder valve is open. This is especially true if the fluid line from the clutch master cylinder (on the firewall) down to the slave cylinder is not bent up or around any objects, but is pretty much a straight drop down to the slave cylinder. If it won't gravity bleed by just opening the valve, have a helper work the clutch pedal as described. Remember to close the bleeder before letting the pedal up, so that air won't be sucked back in through the bleeder valve.

Changed clutch but unable to bleed the slave cylinder. Does that mean clutch master cylinder is bad? Got one from parts store but can't figure out how to take the clutch safty switch off to change it. Any...


Probably not. Bleeding clutch slave cylinders is tricky because you cant "pump it up". The master cylinder has no static valve so the best way to bleed the slave cyl. is to use gravity. Fill the master cylinder reservoir and open the bleed valve on the slave cyl. Allow fluid to drip into an open can until there's no trace of air. Close bleed valve and try clutch. If still no pedal, repeat the process. This is quite an acceptable procedure.

Bleeding Clutch slave cyliner


The best way is to gravity bleed. Open the bleeder nipple on the slave cylinder and let the fluid drip till it's steady and no bubbles. close and dopne deal. loosen reservoir cap while bleeding.

Clutch problem


Open bleeder at slave. Push down on pedal and hold. Tighten bleeder and repeat until fluid is present. Then pump up and bleed remainder of air. Requires two people.

Ok you want to check if your slave cylinder is bled and that is the pressure plate. However, the clutch may have pressure, it dose not always engage the clutch all the way witch would cause a slamming of the clutch. Anothing thing is to check is that if you have had your clutch changed recently make sure that the proper clutch has been in staled because there are a couple diffrent choises out their. If thats not it all I can think of is your slave cylinder fluid is low. You can use a hand held brake vaccum bleeder to do this as well and it removes a bunch of the air.

Bleeding a clutch properly removes all the air from the clutch line. You want to remove the air through the master cylinder at the top of the clutch system rather than through the bottom by pumping the clutch pedal. Pumping the clutch will not remove all the air. Bleeding the clutch on a Ford Ranger will take about 20 or 30 minutes.

Raise your truck 6 inches off the ground with a jack. You can drive the truck on ramps if you have them. Lifting the truck will make it easier to bleed the clutch I promise.

Use a turkey baster to **** the brake fluid out of the brake fluid reservoir located at the top of the master cylinder.

Fill the pump style oil can with brake fluid and attach the flex line to the opening on the oil can. Use a new can. You do not want to pump dirt particles or another fluid into the clutch line. This is just good practice I think.

Pump the flex line with brake fluid to remove all the air. You do not want to add additional air to the clutch system.

Open the bleeder valve located on the internal cylinder with a 7mm wrench and quickly attach the flex line to the valve. I believe this is the wrench you need this is what the size of my ranger is but yours may differ. (Remember the slave cylinder may be inside the transmission bell housing.)

Pump the can to move brake fluid up the clutch line. Stop when you no longer see bubbles coming out of the brake fluid reservoir. It should take about 5 minutes to remove all the air from your system.

Use the wrench to close the bleeder valve and remove the flex line from the bleeder valve and this should complete your job.

Clutch bleeding


Try opening bleeder screw on slave cylinder and let it GRAVITY BLEED, just open clutch mater and fill with fluid and then open slave cylinder bleeder screw and let it gravity bleed( run out by itself) When it does close bleeder screw and you should get pressure.(make sure master doesn't run out of fluid during this preocess).If pedal not good enough bleed as usual. PUMP PEDAL ABOUT 6 time then hold down to the floor using wrench open slave bleed screw and close back up with pedal still being held DOWN. Repeat until fluid comes out with out air.However if all this doesn't work, YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE CLUTCH MATER CYLINDER. Conatct if you need more help and Good Luck. Thanks for using FIX YA

Brake fluid in brand new 1989 ford ranger clutch slave


no it doesn't come filled basically you bleed it like a brake system. Fill the master cylinder and pump the clutch, there is a bleeder on the slave cylinder
