Reset service date on 2006 passat

Obtain error code reader and reset error codes stored on cars computer and the light will reset however if problem is not fixed the light will just re-appear.

The A/C in my 2006 Passat 2.0 T is not working consistently. It seems to quit giving cold air when the outside temp is the hottest. It sometimes works fine until the engine is warmed up-then starts blowing hot air. Any Ideas?

depends on the service schedule programmed in at purchase date when new.you had a choice of two....extended(high mileage) or normal. i.e. extended could be upto 40k for a service (just highway)although rarely that long in everyday motoring.normal is 20/annually again the service indicator on the dash will light up (oel...in 10...in 20)telling you which is due.OR you can service it every year upto 18k and the car will last longer.....(my opinion)VW use full(5/30 synthetic when new BUT supply all the dealers in europe with 10/40 semi for aftermarket servicing......for normal service intervals and 10/40 full synthetic for extended.there is NO WAY (other than reading diagnostic computer)of telling which service interval was put in by the dealer network......but the dashboard will tell you...

The way you change the date on 2006 VW Passat is via the setup screen. Go to setup, scroll down to date & time, and then go to date.

on the SID press customise then select system settings then service info and select reset service info. If the option to reset is not there you will need to change the date to a date beyond the 'Days to service', reset option will then appear. when reset, return date to correct setting. (to change date press and hold the info select button when the date is displayed.

put key in ignition do not turn on yet. push the little wrench button now push in key to on position in mfi it will say service now. then hit the o.o next to the odometer reset button that should reset you sri

I had the same problem with my wife's 2006 passat turbo. We lost 2.5 quarts in 3000 miles and the warning light came on. They put us on a 1000 mile oil test and I lost 1.8 more quarts of oil. They finally agreed to replace the rings. Service tech told me that the factory rings are defective, they begin to lead after about 25,000.

2 options depending on your displays .

Press and hold the service wrench button with the ignition off. While still holding the button, turn your ignition to "on" (but don't start the car). Press the Min clock button and then release the wrench button.


With key off press and hold the 0.0 button on the cluster. With your other hand turn the key to the on position , while still holding 0.0 button, press the minute button for 1 second and you will see the service reset.
