1993 nissan pickup 12 valve running of 3 cyliners. Removed spark plug wires and found that one cylinder was dead, then removed the spark plug wire from this cylinder, grounded it and had spark.

Can you do a compression test?

There may be something amiss with the piston or valve.. and it's usually the exhaust valve that has burnt/split, allowing compression to be kicked straight out of the exhaust. The symptom of a burnt/split exhaust valve is akin to a misfiring spark plug

How do I fix a spark plug that's not firing on a 2004 ford mustang

If its not firing i would check your coils pack thats where your spark comes from so if there is none the coilpack or packs have probably burned up. or it could be a burnt out plug try the cheepest first plug if no spark coils will need to be checked .. easy to do. remove a or that plug not firing put it in the wire and ground it out on engine while someone turns it over if you see spark it should be blue orange is bad if you see none then plug is bad use a good one try again if still no spark coil pack.

How many miles on it ? I recommend doing a compression test on that cylinder if you haven't already done it ! Before you replaced all those parts did you check for spark ? Could have saved the expense ! You could have a burnt valve ! What did the spark plug look like ? The end that goes in the engine ! You can tell a lot by the look of the spark plug , was it wet looking , fuel fouled Black ,carbon fouled , nice tan color , what ? How to Read Your Spark Plugs Davison Automotive

Put batt. in backwards by accident, replaced alt. and alt. hot wire as they were burnt up. but wont start, motor turns over but wont crank. could it have burnt up solenoid

check ignition module, you may have fried it, if motor turns over the solenoid is o.k. -- your probably not getting any fire to the plugs, check to see if you are getting any spark at plugs

No spark

no spark normally means that the coil is burnt or connections are corroded.check to see if you are getting power from the coil,if not clean all contacts and retry.if nothing try another coil.also check the spark plug wires and spark plugs cause it has been sitting for an awful long time.

I have a code P0304 & P0325. The knock sensor and cylinder 4 misfire. How do I repair the problem

Well we should always look at the lowest number codes first. So P304 is cylinder 4 misfire. We need to check for spark, fuel and compression. Look at the spark plug for any carbon tracking down the side of the plug. This will be a black line burnt into the insulator of the plug. Check for spark at the plug. and both ends of the wire.
