SOURCE: Location Of Starter relay switch

sometimes its the simple things. On the foot pedal for the clutch are rubber grommets that push the switch in on the manual trans. they get old and fall off or develop holes in them so the switch does not get depressed.

SOURCE: replacing fuel pump relay switch, need to find

There is a black box under the hood on the drivers side of the vehicle in front of the brake booster. The top pops off and the fuse relay is a square 4 or 5 prong block fuse under there.

Four wheel drive stopped working the light is off that shows it also

In most instances a faulty relay in the 4-wheel drive circuit causes this. If the system uses a relay to actuate a vacuum switch, check the vacuum ports to see if there is a change when trying to energize the 4 wheel drive. If there is a change in the vacuum routing via the switch, check for a vacuum leak in the hose or line leading to the actuator. Sometimes the diaphram in the vacuum actuator ruptures.

On vehicles with electric actuators you will need to check for power to the unit, a change in voltage when applied, a loose or corroded connection or a bad actuator.
When diagnosing such systems, a factory manual is very helpful. They can be purchased from a dealer, ...and in most instances, from a source such as eBay.

Engine will not crank. Battery is good Starter is good. When I turn the ignition nothing happens.i am not getting any power to close the starter solenoid. I can switch the vehicle on and use a jumper wire...

Be sure this car doesn't have a starter relay, you can can purchase a cd repair manual on ebay motors that has a electrical component locate in the software, this is a valuable tool to have, great deal for the $20.00. Hopefully this is not an ignition switch they are a pain to do you will need a steering wheel puller amongst other tools not commonly found in the laymans tool chest such as metric torx wrenches etc. check the replace the starter relay first if warranted then do the ignition switch be sure to check all fuses in the fuse block located in engine compartment if equipped.

Car will start no sound nothing, but had battery tested and is working great.could starter be the cause it is 1998 plymouth

    1. Check the Starter Relay located in the PDC = Power Distribution Center located in the engine compartment on the left side. Remove the cover. The Fuse and Relay location/identification should be on the back (inside) of the cover. Also check your owners manual for addtional information on the Fuse and Relay identification/location.
    2. After locating the Starter Relay: There should be a Spare Relay; IF NOT then LOCATE a non-engine operation Relay (on a function that works!) of similar Type and Size and switch these out. Again check for Starter Operation. If this works: then the original Relay is bad and must be replaced. If it does not work, and the other non-engine function you switched out with does still work, then the Relay was not the problem.
    If this does not work:
    3. With a partner at the wheel: You go under the front of the vehicle. Locate the Starter which should be on the front of the engine. Using a heavy gage jumper wire. Touch one end of the jumper wire to the large (red) wire connection (bolt/nut). Touch the other end to the main body of the Starter Motor. The Starter has two components: the Starter Solenoid and the Starter Motor. They are integrated/combined into one unit. The Starter Solenoid is the Smaller of the cylindrical shapes. The Starter Motor is the Larger of the cylindrical shapes. Have your partner turn the Key to the Start Position. If it Starts, then the Starter Solenoid is bad and the Starter (Solenoid & Motor) Unit must be replaced.
