try checking the wires on the side of the transmission and making sure they are all the way connected and check the wires to make sure there are no bare spots where is wire is showing...it could possibly be shorting out

could be the crankshaft sensor causing the timing to be off if it has a coilpack type distributor or if it has a gear driven distributor then it could be either the distributor itself or possibly just cap and rotor

Check the fuel filter-they had a recall on replacement filters(fram?-just google GMC Recalls) or go to 91 GMC Sonoma Repair=many sites to tell you and download manuel. Then the library has books if you dont. Good luck and God bless1

Its not a timming chain, When was the last time the fuel filter was chg.? If you can't remember chg. it. If that don't help. Do a fuel pressure test to make sure its not the fuel pump. If that chks. out ok, then your problem is electrical, witch could be ignition switch or ignition madual. Find yourself a reliable shop that can do the tests for you if you can't do it yourself.
