Porsche Boxster 986 - Water Issue Intermittent Starting Fault

Porsche Boxster Soft Top 986 1999 2.5L

Passenger side of cabin collected water. There is a black unit under the passenger seat on floor (number of top of box is M531) that was submerged in water. Water removed and area completely dry now.

Car will not start but if left for a period of time it will start. If turned off shortly after starting it will not start again. Everything else (doors, windows, soft top, lights on dash) is functioning ok.

Please help!!

Thanks

That box is part of the central locking and alarm system. I would consider having it serviced .. the water may have damaged it

It sounds like your air conditioner condensation line is not attached or leaking, or the condensation pan is cracked. This is a common problem, the fix requires removing the dash and replacing the broken part.

2002 Tribute water collecting on floor of cabin passenger side

SOUNDS LIKE YOUR A/C EVAPORATOR DRAIN IS PLUGGED. WHEN YOUR DRIVING THE EVAPORATOR WILL COLLECT CONDENSATION AND THEN DRIP OUT OF THE DRAIN. THE DRAIN IS LOCATED NEAR THE FIREWALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. SOMETIMES LEAVES OR MOLD/MILDEW WILL COLLECT THERE SIMPLY SHOVING A COAT HANGER END OR SCREWDRIVER WILL UN CLOG IT AND ALLOW THE WATER TO DRAIN.

Porsche Boxster S 986 persistent squeak behind my head.

My 986 does the same thing. I realized that opening the door made the squeaking stop. Assuming it was cause by the the door rubbing against the jam, I tried to quiet it using tape (as a buffer) , silicone spray, grease, etc. Sorry to say, no luck yet. I'm thinking of just removing the door. Well, actually both doors to keep it symmetrical. Let me know if your squeak is caused by the same thing and if you find a solution which is better than mine.

I have a 1999 Porsche Boxster; it want start. My carpet is wet behind the seat. I am being told that the control box is out or something about the immobilizer. Also my windows are came down even though the...

Possible water entry came from the rear cabrio area membranes under the roof drive units, which will allow for water entry into the cabin and will soak the floor. The alarm CU lives under the seat. Normally when they get wet, they have to be replaced. Sometimes your key remotes will also need to be replaced with the alarm CU. Also make sure that your front plenum drains, near your car battery, are clean of leaves and debris. PS; If water is entering from the rear roof membranes, don't do the rest of the work and NOT replace these, as this fault WILL happen again.

Intermittent starting problem -2004 Porsche Boxster s

it is your ignition switch, you need to replace it, you can do this by removing the plastic casing around the steering column, remove the ignition by taking out all of the bolts and putting a new one in, once you remove the plastic casing you will see how to remove the ingnition, just a few bolts.
