Wiring Diagram for tracing parasitic drain needed

Battery goes flat when car sits over the weekend. Hooked up the multimeter in series and started pulling fuses from the junction box under the hood. Found the draw is coming through the maxi fuse 30A IP BATT. Spent a few hours on the internet and found someone else had the same problem here! The diagram given to them was blurred so I enlarged then printed it. Small print in lower corner says *First Design, for second design see next diagram! As if finding the diagram isn't hard enough, let's complicate it more by giving choices! How do I ascertain which one I need for this specific vehicle?

Didn't realize I hadn't specified that we're working with a 97 Saturn SL2! I did find out what systems are under the IP Batt fuse - too many! Can't we just pull that fuse out when we park it at night?

follow the wires from the alarm itself and trace it of that is not the problem then use a test light between the battery terminal by disconnecting the negative terminal and connecting a test light to the cable and the other end to the battery itself if its out no draw but if lit there's a draw pull fuses one by one with the door switch pressed in to nit get a false reading and when you find the test light goes out that's the problem use the chart guide to find out what # it is and that's yer problem solved

2003 nissan altima 2.5L 4 CYL would'nt w'out jump.replaced battery and car was fine for two days. On day 3 , after car was sitting for 15 hrs dead again!garage cant find whats drawing when car is off

Do you see a brake light on while driving? That could be a bad alternator.

Ask your garage to perform a parasitic draw test - you could do this with a multimeter, as well; it sounds like something is draining your battery while off - it could be any fuse and not obvious like with lights on/etc.

I would 95% positively guess this is the issue due to time frame. If the garage doesn't know what this is, take her somewhere that does. Shouldn't be costly, either.

Have a 150ma draw on 2007 Sport Trac. Pulling 10amp fuse to OBDII drops it to near zero. I have remote start, brake control, passive alarm etc. Should I give up the search and bring to a dealer?

Are you having a battery drain (parasitic draw ) problem ? Battery drains over night ? Is your door open when doing this ? Are you allowing time for the modules on the vehicle to go into sleep mode ? How are you testing this ? Meter hooked up in series ? Are there any DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes . Explain OBD 2 fuse ? Fuse for ECM/PCM number fuse , which fuse box ? under hood ,inside the vehicle ? New battery, let it sit overnight and it goes dead.

You have a parasitic drain, something is on a light or a module isn't powering down . To test this you put an ammeter in series with negative battery cable an battery post . Measure currant draw ,shouldn't be any more then 0.050 milliamp's . If it is start pulling fuse's till it drops . You should refrain from taking the battery cable off with the vehicle running , Can cause a voltage spike , take out electronic components . Namely transistors . Where does the junction box sit at on my 2001 Ford Expedition ?

You have 2 junction boxes, the battery junction box which is located under the hood on the driver's side near the brake master cylinder, and the central junction box which is located under the driver's side of the dash.

Battery draining out checked alternator lights radio etc please advise new battery fitted aswell

You need to do a parasitic draw test with a amp meter hooked up in series with negative battery post an negative battery cable ! Check how much draw there is an then pull fuse's till you see the draw go away . Find a wiring diagram of power flow for that circuit to see what all is powered by that fuse . My 1996 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme is having issues keeping charge. It won't stay running and will start only with jumper cables. As it dies all my lights in the car dim till they are not visible anym

i would try the battery drain test , disconnect the earth terminal and place an ampmeter between the battery earth pole and the battery earth cable if the read out is more than 30-50 milli amps then start looking for what or where the drain is from , as it drains so quickly i'd think it would be a high wattage user ie ignition system , so pulling the fuse's until the milli amps drop will tell you what the component is , also pull relays as one or more may be open all the time even when not required , keep me posted if you wish

What is the correct procedure to check for battery drainage on 2002 BMW X5

Watch the video on Parasitic Current Drain Tests

You not going to have specs

Just need to leave the doors closed, so all
modules can go to sleep

You will need a wiring diagram, if your over 50
to 70 Milliamps

Have to be in series with either battery cable &
on the milliamp scale
