Question about 2006 Audi A4
The two thumb wheels that control the volume (right) and the channel (left) abruptly stopped working. No help in the owner's manual. The radio is the standard Audi Symhony. Any ideas? Thanks.

Best bet is to talk to the Dealership, they have technitions that can better handle the situation.
My guess is they will tell you that the only method would be to either, "brute force" hack it trying an infinite number combination, or to buy a new head unit.
Best of Luck.

Try it, use rubbing alcohol and q tips to clean it all, you may need to clean the inside of the units as well.... Dip the q tip in the alcohol, do not pour the alcohol on the units.

DID YOU PHONE THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE PEOPLE ON THE PHONELINES ARE USELESS PARTIME WORKERS I THINK, ORDERING WRONG PARTS, SAYING PARTS ARE IN STOCK AND THERE NOT ETC ETC ETC.CUSTOMER SERVICE STINKS. I WOULD CONTACT LAST OWNER, ADDRESS WILL BE ON YOUR LOG BOOK V5,OR TAKE THE CAR INTO A OTHER DEALERSHIP AND SPEAK TO SOMEONE WHO HAS SOME MECHANICAL BACK GROUND....CHECK FOR A BLOWN FUSE,FUSEBOX IS ON THE DRIVERSIDE SIDE PANEL PRISE OFF WITH SMALL FLAT SCREWDRIVER.HOPE THIS WILL BE OF SOME HELP TO YOU......LOOK AT OTHER CARS LIKE YOURS IN THE DEALERSHIP FORECOURT AND SEE IF THEY HAVE STEERING WHEEL STEREO CONTROLS.(MAYBE AN UPGRADE OPTION FOR YOUR CAR) GOOD LUCK...NICE CAR...

SOURCE: audi a 6 radio stop working
I believe I have seen this fault before and if your lucky, unplugging the radio from the back and reconnecting after a few minutes may restore it. You will need specialist radio removal 'keys', see the link. You may be able to get these from Audi, and if you ask nicely you might be able to get a technician to pop it out for and try disconnecting it. You may need to enter your 4 digit radio code if/when it turns back on. Hope this helps

well, this morning they are fine, all i did was checked all fuses that had to do with illumination and radio. none were bad so no replacements were made, and now it works. wish i knew what i did.
