Question about 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

ENGINE Hello. I have a problem with the engine on my 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.1Diesel. Whenever I try to start the engine, the CHECK GAUGES light comes on, and when the car starts working it turns off. I usually drive pretty slowly. When I once went faster - 160km/h - I saw that the water was getting hotter than when I drive slowly. I then saw that some oil had gotten into the water. The water is full of oil. The car drives fine except for this problem. If it is a matter of oil pressure sending unit, why is there oil is in the antifreeze? Please tell me what it can it be and what I can do to fix it. thank you

SOURCE: 2004 Grand Cherokee: oil pressure fluctuates

if you know for certain that the sending unit is correct and the guage is accurate, then yiu may have big problems.....while the engine is running open the oil filler hole.. is everything wet with oil? or does it look dry or just a little lubed? you can allways install an aftermarket oil pressure guage(crappy tire) if you get the same results with that then you may have a week oil pump....worst case scenerio... need an engine rebuild as the moter may have wear issues.does the pressure slowly drop as the motor warms up? at idle ? does it jump up when you step on the gas?

check the fuel pump fuse/relay, could be just bad enough to cause an intermittent start/no start. and check fuel pressure, spark and the crank position sensor.

My 93 jeep grand cherokee is not getting fuel...if I disconnect the negative post for awhile and then reconnect it, the jeep gets fuel and will run....what is going on?

If the check engine light does not light up on the dash when you turn on the ignition, at those times when your jeep doesn't want to start, then your main jeep ecm is in need of repair. The fuel pump relay will get energized only after that check engine light comes on. It's a known problem, especially with the first and second year production Grand Cherokees, 93 and 94.

Check engine light won't come on on my 93 cherokee and it won't start when the light comes on after a dozen tries it starts

Your jeep is suffering from what is called the "delayed check engine light problem". Your main computer ecu is in need of repair. Some internal components, ones that normally send power to energize the various engine relays, have gone bad from age. Have the ecu repaired. That services is offered on ebay.

1993 jeep grand cherokee v8 no spark from coil

Look to see if the check engine light come on, on your dashboard, when you turn the ignition on. If that light does not come on, then your ecu computer is in need of repair and your jeep will not start until that light does come on.
Alternately, if that light is on, it could be your crank sensor that's bad on the jeep.

1993 jeep grand cherokee wont start till check engen light comes on

Your ecu computer is in need of repair. You have what is known as the Delayed Check Engine Light problem. There are a few components inside the ecu that are slowly failing and eventually will completely fail. The ignition has to be turned on, for a few minutes, and the jeep won't start until the check engine light eventually comes on. This is because the ecu feeds power to the fuel pump and injector relays and won't feed power until that light comes on. Have it repaired.

Won't start but engine is crank my jeep model 1993 fuel gasoline

Make sure that when you turn the ignition key on that you see the check engine light does light up on the dash, before you try cranking the engine. If no check engine light is on, the jeep won't start. If the check engine light is on and it still won't start then it could be your crank sensor, fuel pump or a host of other problems not allowing it to start.
