SOURCE: 1989 Ford ranger rear antilock light on rear brakes lock up

metal particles on the trigger wheel sensor of the rear differential case, this causes a loose of signal and the light to come on. also a broken tooth on the trigger wheel inside the diff can cause this or a dirty/corroded connection to the sensor from water intrusion.

SOURCE: 2002 ford Ranger 3.0 v6 (auto) rear end noise when accelerating on curves.

Grab the bed of the truck and vigorously rock the vehicle from side to side. If you hear clunking in the axle, you probably need to check the carrier bearings in the differential. I had the carrier bearings, wheel bearings, and seals replaced in my mother-in-law's 1991 Ranger for $280, and it rides like a new truck. Well, ok, it rides like an 18 year old truck with a new rear end. I provided the wheel bearings and seals to the shop, and they provided the carrier bearing, lube, and labor. While the axles are out, check the surface where the axles ride on the bearings. If they are worn, there are undersized bearing available, but it is usually cheaper and easier to just by new axles.

If the brakes work but you have to push very hard, try checking the vacuum supply to the brake booster with the engine running.

How do i bleed my master cylinder to my 1998 ford ranger

start at right rear wheel then left rear wheel then right front then left front that is the sequince. When you crack the bleader open on any wheel you will need a small ruber hose. put one end of the hose on the bleader and the other in jug with brake fluid in it. have help to pump the brake pedal so you can watch the hose or jug to see if any air come out.if no air .then make sure you have good pedal.

How would I adjust my emergency brake for my 1998 ford ranger truck ? the footbrake almost pushes to the floor Thank you in advance

Better look at rear brake shoe thickness first. If they are ok follow the brake cables up from both rear wheels to were they come together. There is a long thread stud there and a nut. Tighten the nut.

Ford Ranger 1994 breaking system just stopped working. No tension on pedal and on checking no brake fluid.

2 places to check 1. look at the rear wheel backing plates for moisture 2. pull the master cylinder back and look for fluid in the vacuum booster. if leaks at the rear its going to be rear wheel cylinders which will require replacing wheel cylinders and shoes. if the vacuum booster is full replace the master and booster.

There are 2 pieces, but you shouldn't need to replace them both,
You have 2 (metal) on each side of the differential running towards the wheels.one is shorter than the other and meet at a small distribution block
